So I take it using a pressure canner is more of an attempt at creating an internally sterile environment rather than a guarantee? I wouldn't mind freezing jars after canning, we've got a chest freezer that's going to need some filling up in the near future.

Obviously I'm way ahead of myself here, but I'd like to get to the point where I can come up with reasonable recipes on my own instead of following instructions and trying to imagine why something is a terrible idea is part of familiarizing myself with the nuances of canning.

Oh, yeah, sorry I wasn't very clear with my idea. I figured I'd throw them in a clean jar and sterilize it the same way you would with regular canned goods. The safest way would be to use a pressure canner, as far as I know. I figure if we're certain it's sterile then everything else about the interior is all about preferred taste and fighting molecular degradation.

Uh, so I am going to do my own learning, but I had the idea of just baking mason jars with the lid placed on top (but not tightened). Would this not work?

I know absolutely nothing about canning. Why does it require a pressure vessel?

What kind of stuff do you like?

My very limited understanding of US and Ohio law tells me this lawsuit is a joke and will get thrown out. It would be ridiculous for a constitutional amendment to have to specifically identify all the laws it's going to impact.

What's the proposal like this year? The last time they tried to legalize it they wanted to install a state sanctioned monopoly and a lot of people I know who loved weed voted against legalization for that reason.

Yes there is. Stop putting carbon into the air and start taking it out. Bada-bing, bada-boom.

You really shouldn't be able to donate money to a campaign that doesn't directly apply to your permanent residence.

Oh, well at least everyone agrees as to the fundamental point of the ballot measure, that's not always the case!

[–] Bob@midwest.social 6 points 2 years ago (1 children)

It's way more complicated than that.

The legislature is historically responsible for 70% of the attempts to amend the constitution and they're trying to make it even harder for citizen lead initiatives to happen. Only about 25% of citizen amendments pass when they get put to a vote, a total of 19 successes in all of Ohio history. We're not drowning in direct democracy here.

The real problem is that the proposed signature requirement is so onerous basically no one will ever be able to get anything on the ballot ever again.

Add to this that the August ballot measure is 100% a retaliation for the upcoming November ballot measure, and yeah, it's total bullshit. We're not even supposed to have August elections anymore and the secretary of state basically changed the rules just for this.

Have you talked to the people with the vote yes signs? What's their logic?
