I remember watching a video about this. But I definitely prefer the taste of Mexican coke. Then it hit me, I think it might taste different depending on what material the packaging is. I have this same issue with coffee. I can taste if it was sitting in a plastic mug vs a ceramic one. So, theoretically, I think people might just like the taste of coke from a glass bottle.

Well then it sounds like that's not it. Could maybe also be a nutrient issue. Some of the larger vegetables tend not to grow as big when there's a lack of specific nutrients like calcium. But again, I've never grown radishes so I don't exactly know what they need.

Is this happening to just your radishes, or is it happening to other root vegetables too? I have never grown radishes but I have had this issue with beets and carrots and found out the hard way that a lot of newer subdivisions will scoop off most of the top soil and only leave a little bit before you hit clay. The lack of soil prevents things like root vegetables from growing larger. If you know that's not an issue, then it's probably something else.

You can also use "-fuck" which has the added benefit of removing a lot of the ads that appear. Because you know... They can't be associated with that kind of search.

That's exactly what we ended up doing. We have a rather large filtration system for the whole house.

Oh it's worse than that. They simply don't know who has them and who doesn't. I know this because the house I bought 3 years ago and gut renovated had lead pipes and most likely had lead service lines from the main. We called several people to determine if the service lines were lead or if they had been replaced as part of one of the city programs. One of the guys on the phone said "What, you gotta problem with lead pipes? I grew up with lead pipes, you think you're better than me?" I can't make this shit up, guy was gatekeeping lead pipes. But long story short, we never found out and are just assuming they are lead ๐Ÿคท

The last couple of years the earwigs have been terrible. They eat everything and my basil gets eaten down to the stalks. I've tried all kinds of things and nothing seems to work other than keeping the soil dry which only mildly helps. This year I noticed a spider hanging out in my basil plant. It kept getting bigger and my basil grew better than ever! Now I take extra care of my spider buddy!

Oh really? Here I am thinking you just show up to a beach and go to town ๐Ÿ˜†

I've always wanted to try to do something like this but I also have so many questions about the medium. Like is there a special sand/water ratio to get the best structure? Are there special tools you use to sculpt? What do you do about the extra sand you remove? It's all so fascinating!

We bid 10k under asking price because the owner ripped the place up and it needed tons of work. They said they would not accept any offers under asking. We thought about it and decided the house was in the perfect location and made the offer at asking price. They also were not happy about that because this was in 2021 and everything was selling for a ton over asking price. Thing is, those houses you could move into with minimal changes. This house needed abatement and a gutted bathroom and kitchen. We were the only offer and they begrudgingly accepted and tried every which way to nickel and dime us before closing.

The photo of the plate isn't even centered :/

About a year ago, I was unable to drink alcohol for medical reasons. So I dove into some recipes for non-alcoholic cocktails, and I wasn't disappointed. There are loads of excellent non-alcoholic recipes that I enjoy just as much as their alcoholic counterparts.

This recipe is from the book Good Drinks:

  • 1oz basil matcha syrup
  • 1oz heavy cream or full-fat coconut milk
  • 3/4 oz lime juice
  • 3 oz soda water
  • matcha for garnish

Shake syrup, cream, and juice with ice and strain into a Collins glass over ice. Add soda water carefully and garnish by sprinkling matcha powder on top.

Enjoy your Independence Day weekend!

Ok it didn't exactly do anything crazy, but it was blooming like we had never seen before this last November! Absolutely gorgeous!

Lei Lani Volcano from my favorite tiki book Smuggler's Cove! What are your favorite cocktail books?

Recipe:

  • 3oz Bundaberg guava soda
  • 1 1/2oz pineapple juice
  • 3/4oz lime juice
  • 1oz coconut cream
  • 1 1/2oz blended aged rum

Add soda to a collins glass. Then add remaining ingredients to a cocktail shaker and fill with cracked or cubed ice. Shake and double strain into the glass. Gently add cracked or cubed ice to the glass and garnish.

Hello again! Feast your eyes upon the meal doomed to end up all over the table and your lap!

Going to start posting some classics this week to get engagement up. Please enjoy these lettuce bits on pegs with what looks to be not enough dressing and bread.
