Exactly this. All the criticism of how sanctions are supposedly ineffectual because current Russian weapons production still has access to Western parts misses the point entirely. Circumventing sanctions incurs cost, which in the end means fewer weapons produced and faster depletion of foreign currency reserves.

Klar ist das Risiko gering, aber sonderlich schlau macht es das trotzdem nicht. Es ist einfach so unnötig und vermeidbar.

Es geht mir nicht um die moralischen Fragen dahinter, sondern darum, dass es nunmal illegal ist und man quasi ein Geständnis in die Welt hinaus posaunt. Man ist hier weniger anonym, als man glauben mag.
