I'm pretty sure you've seen that post.

Lemmy's instance blocking doesn't fully block the instance users, it just hides the instance communities, so it's not equivalent to defederation.

Piefed's instance blocking does.

You can import your Lemmy settings, which are the subscribed and blocked communities, instances and users, and saved posts as well

There seems to be an issue with the mobile API at the moment: https://piefed.zip/post/223804

Maybe a naive question, but how does Bluesky manage user bans from different instances? Is there a way to federate bans over the whole network?

Not an expert, but from what I've heard, if you don't allow NSFW content you don't have to comply ?

the ideals that certain people (such as Admiral Patrick) had are dying, the hopes and dreams of what Lemmy could become.

Piefed is what AdmPat thought Lemmy could become, and it's getting better every day

Why would you downvote that post though?

Following intense street battles, the SAF officially announced its control over Khartoum, sparking jubilant scenes among those who remained in the city.

Sudanese displaced to other states and refugees in neighbouring countries also welcomed the news, hoping for a long-awaited return home.

Mohamed Obaid, 40, from Nile East - a former RSF stronghold - described the terror of survival under occupation. “I stayed indoors for days without food, too afraid to step outside,” he recounted to Middle East Eye.

“I don’t even want to remember those days. You could die at any moment for no reason.

“If you received money from a relative through mobile banking, it was risky to go outside and collect it - they were everywhere, ready to loot your phone,” he added.

“If you managed to reach a Starlink shop to exchange money, you’d find RSF fighters running the place, seizing 30 percent of your cash for no reason. They controlled all supplies and sold them at outrageous prices.”

A Myanmar rebel group that controls one of the world's largest rare earth zones has told miners there it will allow shipments of existing rare earth inventories to China from Thursday, according to two sources and a statement reviewed by Reuters.

Rare earth mining in Myanmar is concentrated in Kachin state around the towns of Panwa and Chipwe, which have been controlled by the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) since last October.

List of instances: https://piefed.fediverse.observer/list

Piefed has a few nice features that Lemmy and Mbin lack

  • instance blocking
  • comments combination, posts only appear once
  • keyword filter
  • topics (admin-managed feeds)
  • user-managed feeds, public and private
  • ability to reduce the amount of Trump and Musk content

It doesn't have an app yet, but it's in progress

At the moment, it only has 352 monthly active users, so it seems like people aren't very interested in it yet

Is this the lack of app, or is there anything else?
