Yes, definitely.

I only keep !funny@sh.itjust.works as it's usually actual funny content and not political messages (whatever the stance) hidden behind memes

The dubvee shutdown posts makes some valid point, but I disagree on a few others.

The communities I'm in are mostly safe from toxic users

I avoid news and politics, that probably helps a lot on that regard

This might be a call for mods to keep an eye on reports, and for users to post and comment on well moderated community. !fedigrow@lemmy.zip can help.

It's sad to see Admiral Patrick go, but it's not all doom and gloom.

Reddit keeps enshittifying (DM shutdown, UK age verification), we might see new people come here soon.

Memes can help indeed. They get upvoted a lot, and bring more visibility

I am, thank you!

Good to hear!

There was no reason, it was an instance ban: https://dubvee.org/modlog?other_person_id=8428067

The instance shuts down at the end of the month, so I don't think it's worth digging too much.

Could be for this comment, but I'm not sure: https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/48969437/20081226

Yes, that's pretty much the feeling.

Hope you are doing well Cris!

At the time of writing Summit for Lemmy should be completely open source.

After a lot of contemplation I've decided to open source the app. There are still some changes that probably need to happen before it can be considered "FOSS" but this is a huge step I think.

As I'm voiced my opinions on this previously, the main repository for Summit will not be to the public for PRs. If you encounter bugs or have any feature requests please continue to send them through the proper channels (ideally to this community).

Enjoy~~

Parallel sending of federated activities to other instances. This can be especially useful for instances on the other side of the world, where latency introduces serious bottlenecks when only sending one activity at a time. A few instances have already been using intermediate software to batch activities together, which is not standard ActivityPub behavior, but it allows them to eliminate most of the delays introduced by latency. This mostly affects instances in Australia and New Zealand, but we’ve also seen federation delays with instances in US from time to time. This will likely not be enabled immediately after the upgrade, but we’re planning to enable this shortly after.

TL;DR To make messaging on Reddit faster and more reliable, we’re replacing Private Messages (PMs) with Reddit Chat and inbox notifications. This transition is necessary to maintain and improve Reddit’s messaging infrastructure. We aim to make these changes with minimal disruption while improving the user experience.

Timeline: Starting at the end of March, we'll roll out these changes in phases over the next three months to ensure everything goes smoothly

Following up on this thread: https://lemm.ee/post/58774156?scrollToComments=true , which was used to announce people that we were moving (similar to https://lemmy.world/post/24312613)

General feedback was negative.

Lessons learned: find a way to notify only subscribers

An admin told me that if this kind of action os coordinated with the community instance admins, they could consider sending a mass direct message, which could then also target only subscribers.

This would require direct database access.

For context, the previous experience was https://lemmy.world/post/24312613

Feedback there was

thanks, I’m sure I only shitposted one time here about football’s cultural atmosphere or game theory/sportsmanship in general.

Thank you for the heads up folks

As a lemm.ee user myself, I approve of this.

I saw the automod tag everybody, and that’s a really nice solution you’ve come up with

I’m also not subscribing to the new one b/c I’m starting to get annoyed with the notion that communities need to be consolidated. That’s not a discussion for this post, though.
