I have higher hopes. Java is three times more developers than Rust (https://www.statista.com/statistics/793628/worldwide-developer-survey-most-used-languages/), and you can see in this thread a number of people saying they could contribute as they know Java and not Rust.

Let's hope for the best.

ADD: we could have a a poll? proposal:

keep it here
separate
if separate (but maybe together) is an option what name?

I don't really see the need for a poll, I'm going to create it anyway, if it fails, it fails, but it's not like !europe is lacking content at the moment with the amount of posts people create here everyday (which makes sense, it's the 6th most active community of Lemmy after all: https://lemmyverse.net/communities?order=active)

It kind of makes sense to be honest. The pricing of the small phones is very prohibitive.

[–] Blaze@discuss.online 9 points 2 years ago

Definitely, promoting it on !newcommunities@lemmy.world would probably help

[–] Blaze@discuss.online 2 points 2 years ago (2 children)

lso don’t know how that works a critical minimum of users for a Cty to take off

Don't worry, I'll promote it everywhere, and I think with the number of subscribers !europe@feddit.de has, we should be able to gain a nice amount of people quite fast

I do, as you may have noticed, I try to post maps and "light" content here every other day.

But the think is that I just want to take a break of news, and !europe@feddit.de is going to have them, of course, that makes sense!

Hence the proposition of this new community

Seems like here the number of developers comfortable in Java is a dependency

[–] Blaze@discuss.online 7 points 2 years ago

Yes. I keep this post alive as it was interesting to think what would happen if they really killed it. Would a lot of disgruntled old.reddit users come here? That could be interesting

Mandatory promotion to !dundermifflin@lemmy.ml, also, do you think it should be moved to another instance? I am never really sure if the fact that it's on lemmy.ml is an issue to people potentially interested as I guess they may have blocked the instance

I always enjoy Real Life Lore videos, unfortunately not so much the latest ones which are very conflict oriented.

I'm not, I barely crossoposted this from nutomic's post on !lemmy@lemmy.ml !
