I see what you mean, I had made a very thorough post in this community on fetching and applying song metadata in batch, but it got too complicated and moving to linux (nixos specifically) made it even more complicated that made me realise I should figure a more automated and simple process.

I'd like to make a server and one of its functions is probably going to be a spotify-like service with jellyfin or something. I'm thinking of using streamrip with a qobuz token (I will also have to check the arr suite), but until I make that I'm a bit lazy and use lucida.

I think the other other commenter gave the details. Irc is like matrix, but a different protocol. Like matrix and discord. Not sure if they have bridges in the irc room to communicate with matrix rooms, but you'd probably have to make an account on libera irc first.

Hello and welcome:)

To answer your questions:

  1. Umm, yeah, you'd have to make an account on hexbear or any other instances that federated with them, but hexbear shut down few weeks ago, due to a domain expiration (I think eventually something new might be created)

  2. It's not exactly necessary to make an account for every instance, but you could have a few accounts on instances that federate with instances you interested in. I'm on mander which federates with almost all instances, apart from meta's threads and maybe one more I think. You could check the ideas surrounding an instance before making an account to see if it suits you.

  3. Yeah, to check the instances an instance federates with, go to "instance-address"/instances, where "instance-address" is the url of your instance. For beehaw that would be https://beehaw.org/instances

  4. Ayy, I too use Thunder:)

Hope I helped😄

Oh thats what I had tried few days ago, thanks for confirming it:)

(I think the squid site didnt fetch all the metadata, but whatever)

Yeah, I think fdroid is more strict about the apps they include and I think they might do some extra tests (hence why fdroid apps have different signature from git repos of the apps).

Please search it yourself, I don't remember much to help you.

Here's izzy's site: https://apt.izzysoft.de/fdroid/index/info

PS. You might see Izzy in various github app repos talking with developers asking to import their apps to the izzy repo

What I do is I have droidify (fdroid client) with fdroid, izzyonandroid and few more repos enabled and I browse the list frequently. If I find something cool I might keep it. I try to avoid anything from google play in general.

If I want something specific (apart from searchijg online), I mighr just search the term I want on droidify, install a few apps, try them and keep the one I like.

I think there's an IRC room, I could ask for more details if you'd be interested

(I'm in the discord server)
