Come on man, I’ve seen you around a lot and I know you post a lot of good stuff, but to be fair, you’re not blameless here. I get that you’re not interested in a game and it’s frustrating to see lots of posts about it dominating your feed, but clearly the OP is interested and excited about it, and basically telling them to shut up about their interest just because it’s not what you want to hear about is a mean thing to do. It would be different if they posted spam links to their own blog every single day or something like that but they post all sorts of relevant news links to various communities so I think they just share stories they’re interested in, and that’s valuable to the community too! We all should be working together to build a nice friendly community to talk about what we enjoy and sometimes that means we have to tolerate others quirks and discussing things we don’t particularly care for.

Oh boy, Travis Worthington comes off as such a selfish asshole in this interview. Paraphrased, and being a bit unfair to him, he just kind of says, “oh, we know fine well that we are benefiting from stealing art from others, and I’d really like if you believed that I cared about that, but the reality is that I don’t really give a shit, and if you’re an illustrator, just give up on your dreams of getting a job someday, because I certainly won’t be paying you”

Definitely gonna be avoiding indie games studios from now on.

If you stole from Elon Musk’s private jet, shouldn’t he be allowed to throw you off the plane? Like it was kind of implied that you’d have to follow Elon’s rules when you got on the plane, and it was in that 10,000 page EULA you clicked “I agree” on… should Elon really be forced to carry people on his jet whom don’t follow the rules? If you don’t like them, you can get off the plane.

Don’t worry, if you’re falling through the sky, you’ll be eligible for a parachute, just send away form 117b and wait 6-9 months for your request to be denied, then you can hire a lawyer and file an appeal! Usually that should be sufficient to get you the parachute you need.

Oh, what’s that, you already hit the ground and died? Ah well, should have just danced for Elon I guess.

I don’t think it’s as clear cut as to call it allegory, it’s definitely inspired though - and Aslan certainly is particularly like the holy trinity for sure.

No, the original basis of my first point was that you falsely equated the concept of free speech to only ever be about the first amendment when that clearly is not the case and you even admit it yourself. And you’ve just been fighting a strawman ever since.

Will you answer the question?

[–] Blake@feddit.uk -1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

You got that a bit turned around, there.

Choose between following their rules (not wearing a pin/mask) or risk your health and safety (lose your income, health insurance, ability to provide food/shelter for your family)

I’ll try and simplify it a bit for you since you seem to be struggling.

Has the term “free speech” ever been used to refer to anything other than the 1st amendment?

So, if Elon puts you into a position where you have to choose between following his rules or risk to your health and safety, it’s kidnapping, unlawful detention, etc. but if Amazon puts you into a position where you have to choose between following their rules or risk your health and safety, that’s completely acceptable?

Do you not realise that you completely walked back on your “my property, my rules” claim?

Was chatting with a young (17-ish) atheist guy recently who misremembered this as “isn’t there a bit in the bible where Christian licks a prostitute’s feet?” which truly left me with so many things I wanted to say that I could bareky say anything without laughing so much, but I managed to get out “did you think Jesus was called Christian??”

I’m atheist and my parents raised me without any religion. The first time I learned anything about religion was at primary school where Christianity was taught as fact. I was really confused as to why I hadn’t heard of this “god” fellow before now, and I asked my parents about it, and they explained the general concept of religious belief to me, and said that I was free to believe whatever I choose, and I remember being frustrated that my mum wouldn’t directly answer me as to whether or not this stuff was real or not real, and kind of just settled on the idea that it was like they read the Chronicles of Narnia and believed Aslan was real, which was like, fine with me, but seemed a little silly. It was kind of funny to learn a bunch of religious stuff in retrospect - it was kind of like, “dang, this Jesus dude really does force himself into everything doesn’t he?” Easter is the funniest one, it’s such a stretch, they clearly had no idea how to make that one about Christianity and just kinda phoned it in.

So, the one “religious” thing I keep, is saying stuff like “oh my god”, “for god’s sake” and stuff like that, but for me, it doesn’t really mean anything to do with god. It’s just like an otherwise meaningless idiom that people say.

I love meat! Can’t live without it.

Sure you can! Everyone who goes vegan or vegetarian manages to do it, and so can you!

And nobody goes vegan or vegetarian does it because they dislike the taste of meat - it’s because of the same reasons you wrote about the cows - it’s because we see animals as creatures which do not deserve to suffer just for our pleasure.

Everything you mentioned about why you don’t want to eat cows is just as true for all the other animals. Chickens are really friendly, playful and affectionate little guys! Pigs are smart and sweet, and have their own personalities.
