Essentially every war since WW2 has been a proxy war. That's was kind the whole idea behind the Cold War. It ain't new. Those didn't escalate and this is unlikely to. All the powers involved know the stakes.

Bruh, people still think 5G is gonna either give them cancer or turn them into zombies. They'll think 6G will cause their head to explode ala Scanners or open a demonic portal to hell.
