Wait, now I'm confused. If you didn't know this was about Chick-fil-a, why'd you make the comment about "radical Christian teachings"? I, and I assume most others that read the comment, understood it to be in reference to the fact CFA is an openly Christian restaurant chain.

I feel like in order to be a radical Christian, I would first need to be a Christian. You weren't hating on Christianity, but you were hating on Christians. You were saying the people weren't following what Christianity preaches. I was just saying that this example was not my experience in the same fast food chain

As of July 16, Steam's new guidelines state that game publishers should avoid releasing titles that may violate the terms and conditions of its payment processors. In other words, the storefront is asking creators to not only follow the platform's rules but also submit to potential oversight from companies like MasterCard, Visa, and PayPal.

and from the petition

MasterCard and Visa have increasingly used their financial control to pressure platforms into censoring legal fictional content

Steam is enforcing MasterCard's, Visa's, and PayPal's policies. From Steam's Rules and Policies:

What you shouldn’t publish on Steam: ... 15. Content that may violate the rules and standards set forth by Steam’s payment processors and related card networks and banks, or internet network providers. In particular, certain kinds of adult only content.

Point number 15 was not there in a Snapshot from February on the wayback machine. If anything, the solution should just be to remove the payment method for those games (which would still hurt the creators substantially).

There is a line that is confusing:

In response to this censorship, some fans have launched a petition on Change.org urging Valve to revert its policies

There may be petitions about reverting Valve's policy, but it's not the main petition against Visa and MasterCard (which is the one they linked).

Correct. With my several gay coworkers. It was a job. And quite frankly, better than just about any other fast food job. Idk if you can easily work for a "moral" major corporation. Pergaos you can determine some evils to not be as bad as others, but that's purely subjective

Sorry to rain on the Christian hating parade, but when I worked at CFA over 10 years ago, they did give free food to employees.

Now granted, there are plenty of other things to still parade about. Christians give lots of ammo

"Hamas has denied its forces committed sexual violence against women or mistreated female hostages.

However, a UN mission concluded in March 2024 that there were "reasonable grounds" to believe that conflict-related sexual violence occurred during the 7 October attack in multiple locations, including rape and gang rape, and that there was "convincing information" that hostages had been subjected to sexual violence, including rape and sexualised torture." Nike doesn't sell proprietary shoe laces that only work with nike shoes. Or sell gloves that pair with the shoes, so if you wanted to switch shoes you'd also have to get new gloves. Apple is awful for very different reasons

The one I worked at was a very large modern university hospital (in the US) that handled a large part of the states patients. We used pagers in the Emergency Room for code red patients. Many doctors also still use them

[–] Bazoogle@lemmy.world 15 points 3 weeks ago (4 children)

An easy answer is pagers in hospitals. I know it's because they're simple RF technology, and work reliably in cinderblock buildings. But given how advanced so much of our medical equipment is, you'd think there would be a different system. Granted, that system would almost definitely need updates and have potential downtime/crashes, which you cannot afford in that kind of environment

While not the same as phone bills, still today electricity changes in cost depending on the time of day. Electricity costs less in the middle of the night. It makes sense to have higher cost during peak demand when charging by usage and there is an impractical bandwidth limit.

Why? It's been much easier for me

I've seen some sources say that too high or low of pH levels can impact how well a stimulant is absorbed into your system. It seems the biggest source in regular diets, especially American diets, is citric acid. I enjoy many citric heavy juices, and also drink a lot of soda. Do you guys watch your citric acid intake about an hour before and after you take your medication? Do you notice an impact either way? I drink a lot of juice/soda, so I would have to adjust my diet quite a bit (granted, probably not the worst thing).

One of the biggest things holding me back from leaving Reddit, despite the fact I hate the way they are handling, well, everything, is the sense of community with people sharing similar experiences as me, as well as sharing my hobbies. It's nice to be able to look at things other people made in a hobby you're interested in, but even moreso it's nice to be able to relate your struggles with others sharing your struggles. To leave reddit would mean leaving behind r/ADHD and r/ADHDmemes which allow us to vent and make light of our daily struggles. It's nice that there is another community here I can turn to instead. I hope this platform continues to grow and improve, so I don't ever have to look back on the pile rubble that reddit is quickly becoming.
