I bought a TX-CP with halo switches back in like 2017 or 2018 or something and I've been content ever since I put some GMK Penumbra caps on it. I have a weirdo keyboard with a knob I bought much later just sitting around (I think it was called an iron wolf?), but I haven't assembled it yet.

I'd be fine if property taxes were also tied to household income, with no exceptions being made for rentals. Like, raise my taxes and make my income bracket pay 100%, but reduce the property tax rate for households with lower incomes so they can stay in their homes. All taxes should be fair and progressive. Landlords should have to pay full taxes to discourage rentals, unless that's a shitty idea.

EDIT: actually, make the landlord's tax rate be tied to the income of the tenants. If you can have low income tenants, you pay less tax. That's also maybe a shitass idea, but it sounds nice on paper.

Taxes bad amirite? I mean, I wish my local school districts would stop doing stupid things, but I actually like paying for kids to go to public school.

EDIT: I get letters from the assessor every year and I've never been upset or surprised. idk why paying taxes seems to be so offensive to some people ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Comments are the primary form of interaction on link aggregation sites. Most mod actions are performed against comments, not posts. The other way makes more sense to me (men could post but not comment), but who would want to post and then be unable to respond?

I feel that women should have an easily discovered place where they can talk about shit that is difficult to talk about online. Because a minority of men make that difficult (I want to believe it is a minority, at least), it makes sense for the community to only be for women. Having the community show up in the All feed is the very best way to make it discoverable. Having it be a private community would vastly limit the accessibility for women who have just joined the fediverse.

Like, if it's that important, there could be a !WomensStuffOpen that mirrors the other community but is open to comments from men. That feels fair and inclusive without taking away from women having a space for themselves.

EDIT: Although it would probably be ideal to only mirror the posts and not the comments. mirroring individual comments would open people up to harassment.

Fucking exactly. Like, I blocked the community because I almost posted there several times without realizing. I didn't want to make extra work for the mods there, so I hit the block button. That's it, that's all it takes. The community should be public so women can easily find it. Blocking a community isn't an inherently negative thing, you should block stuff that isn't relevant to you. If you're good at remembering that you shouldn't post there and like to read the posts, then don't block it.

Would people be as upset if it was a community for gay men? I obviously can't know, but I don't think there'd be this much furor. Why is this so emotionally challenging for some people to accept? I can guess, but I won't do so here.

I'm all for phasing out PFAS, especially in textiles. I want the firefighting foam gone too, now that effective alternatives have been developed. I apologize if I misunderstood your intent. I just read this as calling for all complete and immediate halt to all PFAS production, which includes Teflon and its manufacturing aids:

while not banning it entirely and leading the charge to a global ban

Yep, I'm a touch typist. QWERTY on a compact 1800 format keyboard (an old TX-CP).

I miss the machinist subreddit quite a bit. There are some communities here, but they're not very active. I'd post, but I don't do enough machining right now to really generate much content.

Banning the production of all PFAS will take time. There are no alternatives to Teflon in many contexts, and many medical devices would simply not work if not for Teflon. A hard and immediate end to PFAS production would be devastating for medical care. It's a bit of a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation.

FINO is infinitely better in my opinion.
