He set up Popular Revolutionary Tribunals to prosecute public officials charged with political crimes[12] and corruption, considering such elements of the state counter-revolutionaries.[15] This led to criticism by Amnesty International for human rights violations, including extrajudicial executions and arbitrary detentions of political opponents.[16]

idk sounds pretty authoritarian to me.

A friend who considers themself an anarchist (they are a liberal) recently told me they were thinking of borrowing my copy of State and Revolution - after all, if voting doesn't work, we can always have a non-violent revolution to make things better, emphasis on the non-violence.

I chuckled and told them that revolution will always be violent because the bourgeoisie will always fight back. That they aren't interested in talking it out. They lost interest in the book and immediately changed subjects.

I don't think I'm very good at convincing people to Read Theory.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Poon_Hiu-wing

Woman from Hong Kong is murdered by her boyfriend while they are in Taiwan, and her murderer flees back to Hong Kong. Authorities in Hong Kong don't have jurisdiction to charge him for the murder. They also didn't have an extradition treaty with Taiwan, nor to the mainland (he is from Shenzhen). So Hong Kong proposed a law that would allow them to extradite the murderer. This was cited as the main complaint of the protesters.

The law never passed. HK did have jurisdiction to get him for stealing some of the victim's money and stuff, but he walked free like a year after murdering her.

We are leftists. Mostly communists, some anarchists. Big socialism enjoyers.

We consider "conservatives" to just be another flavor of liberal, since you're all in favor of capitalism.

Sounds absolutely deranged, no? That's the same methodology the Black Book of Communism uses, and why we are laughing at the 100 million number.

One of the first actions of the maidan government was to suppress the use of Russian language in the east. Why are you accusing Russia of a theoretical that Ukraine actually did?
