I'm making spiderman and it's a cheesy romcom now.
Babs
I've been saying for years that anyone should be allowed to make a Spiderman. Let's bring back low budget capeshit that barely resembles the source material. I want a variety of spidered men for all tastes. Most would be absolute garbage but some of that garbage would be awesome and there would still be some interesting shit.
But also, if anyone can make a superhero movie, that could be a step towards taking the capeshit out of capeshit - superhero movies suck because it's the same couple studios just copying each other for over a decade and preventing innovations (good or bad).
typing "gxfc" on my pinyin keyboard and hoping it picks the right characters.
My hometown has a lot of Chinese people and a lot of Vietnamese people. Lunar New Year seems appropriate.
me watching Tay Zonday 16 years ago: "haha funny move away from mic to breathe man."
me watching Tay Zonday now: "okay so this guy has been a comrade all this time?"
I like how Vampire: the Masquerade did it, where people would get a little bit "stuck" in their era. You might change from the pantaloons and heels to a modern business suit, but still be very confused by these "punks" who seem to be intentionally dressing as a member of the underclass?
Watching anime (or Japanese train and street food youtube) while learning Chinese is fun cause like, I know a lot of these words, but they're using them kinda funny, and there's a buncha little squiggles I don't understand in between the 汉字, but sometimes there's just enough to understand the sentence in reading but not writing.

Cops have always been nice to my white ass. They drove me home safely when I was underage drinking, gave me movie tickets and gift cards when they saw me riding my bike with appropriate safety gear, were a harmless presence in my community, and have always been courteous in our professional interactions now that I'm and adult with a job that regularly puts me in contact with them. Cops are nice to me, a little white lady. Except that time I was at a protest and they shot flashbangs at me, but that was to be expected. They are nice to me when I'm not directly opposing them.
My partner is Latino and he once got tazed while trying to console his drunk (white) ex after a party because the cop saw her crying and assumed he was hurting her. His little nephew got mauled by a police dog (and his mom got injured trying to protect him) only for the local newspaper to write about how his family is a bunch of criminals while they were suing the department. He's spent nights in jail for things that were "harmless teenage foolishness" when I did them.
Growing up, cops were friends to me and monsters to him. I had to get some theory in my brain to understand that we have differing class interests.
Dnd is fun. My current character is an orphan who was raised in a communal monastic military order, and just recently came to a large early-industrial city. It's been fun playing a character for whom communism (or at least free stuff and material egalitarianism) is the default, and all this "money" and "market" business is just confusing and nonsensical and inefficient.
Like what do you mean you have to pay for food? I just eat at the canteen with my bros, see the chirurgeons if I ever get hurt, and pick up my equipment at the manufactorum. What's a "boss"? You mean your commanding officer? Why does he get more resources than you? That doesn't make any sense.
If your ideology doesn't exist in the real world, it can't do anything bad or tankie to ruin it.
