Think about this girly pop singer I used to listen to like 10-15 years ago.

Wonder what she's been up to, last I saw she was going in a pretty cool Riot Grrrl direction.

Wait shit, she's British and was always really vocal about supporting lesbians and women's rights.

Oh fuck what if...

Check twitter...

Oh cool, I guess Kate Nash has been posting "Trans Rights" and telling TERFS to fuck off. Neat.

Always sucks when an artist you enjoy is bigoted, and real nice when you find out that they aren't.

Kinda? But not for the reasons he thinks?

Engels realized here in a particularly striking form the fundamental idea which runs through all of Marx's works, namely, that the democratic republic is the nearest approach to the dictatorship of the proletariat. For such a republic, without in the least abolishing the rule of capital, and, therefore, the oppression of the masses and the class struggle, inevitably leads to such an extension, development, unfolding, and intensification of this struggle that, as soon as it becomes possible to meet the fundamental interests of the oppressed masses, this possibility is realized inevitably and solely through the dictatorship of the proletariat, through the leadership of those masses by the proletariat.

State and Revolution chapter 4, section 2. Having a government where you are nominally, but not actually, in control is a more ripe revolutionary environment than one where there is no illusion of freedom and Kings just get to do King shit.

Please tell me I didn't completely misinterpret and butcher this passage.

When the game launched, if you played on PS5 you needed a PSN account and if you played on PC the game encouraged you to make one and link it, but it was optional.

New patch made doing so mandatory. Tiny inconvenience for PC players in regions where you can make a free PSN account (basically everywhere except parts of Africa, Eastern Europe, and tiny island nations/colonies), but if you live in one of those regions without PSN access, or refuse to make and link a PSN account, you can no longer play the game. It has also been removed from the Steam storefront in regions without PSN.

This has led to review-bombing and a lot of very angry gamers, most of whom the problem doesn't actually affect but who still see it as representative of shitty media industry practices. Like how last December, Sony lost access to their license for Discovery content and removed access to paid content for users.

Helldivers was made by a small studio using a big company's resources to make it cross-platform, but now that big company is making very unpopular business decisions for them.

Nah, you can make a PSN account as a PC player - I did on launch because I didn't realize it used to be optional. Problem is that PSN accounts are not available in some countries. This change will primarily impact people in Africa, Eastern Europe, and all those little island countries and colonies.

Some of the TES books are sooo good. A Dance in Fire is a lot of fun, and 2920 is straight-up one of my favorite short stories. Makes me really annoyed that they retconned how the Tsaesci looked.

Unfortunately pretty unsurprising after last night. Things were already tense, but then a black bloc used a communist rally as cover to cause a bunch of property damage, so things spread outside the school and into downtown. Anxiously following this today.

Yeah these guys were cool when fascists were coming in from out of state and we needed someone to kick their asses, but this was absolutely not the time and it has serious damaged relationships between the local labor movement and ethnic minority communities who will face scrutiny for this.

Black bloc disrupted the communist may day march here, smashing up businesses and assaulting people while the organizers repeatedly tried to tell them to fuck off, then went online to complain about tankies and talk about how actually, everyone was cheering for the violence.

Lots of lovely communists came together for a united front for a good cause and had a beautiful rally with speakers and music and poetry, but then these fuckers show up during the post-rally march to make us all look bad and put a ton of legal heat on the local Palestinian community and advocacy organizations.

Fucking great. Real helpful. I guess being "anti-authoritarian" means you get to fuck over vulnerable people.

Yeah I woke up mad. Fucking furious.
