True. What happens if you don't do the other thing you're avoiding right now?

[–] Azzu@lemm.ee 1 points 2 months ago

Good that you clarified that :D

You could also look at it like, you were conditioned to think that procrastinating/being unproductive is a bad thing. In the end, it could be that the things you do while procrastinating are the things you actually want, and the other stuff is just stuff that you think you're supposed to do.

Of course, you know yourself best. But for me, once I started seeing the procrastination activities as the actual activities I want to do, I really just stopped doing most of the other stuff, and now I'm entirely unproductive, not doing anything much, and I'm the happiest I've ever been.

If all those people that have money to build houses were forced to give it away (taxes), we the people (the government) could just build the houses and not charge exorbitant rent.

From Wikipedia

A landlord is the owner of property such as a house, apartment, condominium, land, or real estate that is rented or leased to an individual or business, known as a tenant.

So, I'd say you're technically wrong :D

Ok, I guess that's it then. Just didn't make sense to me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

In the context of cold random approaches, women almost never do that. They don't need to, because so many men are approaching them that they simply don't have to do the work. Why would you risk rejection when you can just chill and be approached and thus get guaranteed interest? They just mostly pick out of the approaches they get. Gender roles might be theoretically dead, but practically, they're very much alive.

One of the indirect ways is simply looking at you and looking friendly. That is them indirectly approaching you by showing you that you can approach them. How to make sure that is their intention is almost impossible because different people have different mannerisms and you don't know what the person you're looking at's mannerisms are. They might just generally look at people and look friendly. For someone else, they might look but look bored and that's their face for them wanting you to approach them. Or someone looking at you but quickly looking away when you look may be wanting you to approach (they were just embarrassed for staring), but they might also just think you look weird and that's why they stared.

Approaching someone is not wrong, but it's almost impossible to know if someone wants to be approached unless you approach them. It's a paradox without a proper solution.

What is a wainwright?

If you don't initiate, you rely on others to give you what you want. If you approach yourself, you're making what you want happen.

There is no "role that never needs to initiate". Women have always been initiating, just less than men and maybe in a more indirect way. If women want something, they also make sure to try and get it.

In the end, the only thing you're doing is not taking responsibility about your own happiness.

Ja wir haben halt schon ein ziemlich gutes Leben insgesamt noch... Wenn Systeme so bleiben wie sie sind ist das zwar net gut weil Fortschritt geil wäre, aber joa halt auch nicht schrecklich

I noticed this while visualizing juke spots today. Probably common knowledge to many, but who cares.

Have a look at this picture:

The red line is the one that the hero will be following. As you can see in the yellow circle, the hero will walk right up to the tree, then make a 90° turn to walk around it.

It's not entirely consistent, but this happens when you let the pathfinding work in a way where your hero has to briefly increase the distance between the point you want him to walk to and his actual position. As you can see, this is the case here, since the hero has to walk in this little "S" shape to get to his target.

Now compare that with when you set the target in a way where your hero does not have to walk around something:

The hero takes a much more direct path, with no 90° turn.

I took a video of this path being walked in both ways, and the more direct way was ~5% faster.

This is the reason why, if you watch a pro/good players player perspective, they spam click instead of clicking once farther away. It manipulates the pathfinding system into giving you a path that is more direct, since it recalculates the path along the way. When you're getting close to the 90° turn, it recalculates the path to not have the 90° turn anymore and use the more direct way.

So to take advantage of this, don't walk by clicking once, keep clicking. There is a handy setting in the advanced options called "Auto-repeat Right Mouse", which automatically spam clicks the right mouse button when you hold it down, so you don't destroy your tendons as much.

I was watching his player perspective when I noticed this play, which wasn't even caught on stream.

Even though it didn't lead to anything, I don't care, I love these mindgames.

If you didn't already know about it, I included the full description after the release notes.

Release 1.3.0

  • You can now add multiple secondary instances: so if you, like me, also have an account on lemmynsfw.com (or of course any other instance), you can add that there and not have links rewritten for that instance
  • You can manually enter your home instance. Useful for self-hosted instances that didn't show up in my instance list.

Full Description Below:

Description

Lemmy Universal Link Switcher, or LULs for short, scans all links on all websites, and if any link points to a Lemmy instance that is not your main/home instance, it rewrites the link so that it instead points to your main instance.

Also works on Firefox Android with the Tampermonkey extension!

Features

  • Rewrite links to Lemmy posts/comments to point to your home instance. Only after hovering over them, because getting home posts/comments links require communicating with the Lemmy servers, and we don't want to spam the servers.
video demonstrating links to posts being rewritten

  • Instantly rewrite all links of community or user links to Lemmy/kbin on all websites everywhere to your new instance! The rewritten links will have an icon next to it, and hovering/touching the icon will show you the original link, allowing you to go there if you want to.
    community links being rewritten

  • If you are already on a page that has a corresponding page on your home instance, a link will automatically be added to the page header.
the header link to your home instance when already on a remote post

Home Instance Setup

Simply visit the Lemmy instance you want to set as your home while the script is active. You will be asked if you want to set this instance to your home instance:
popup to select home instance

Settings

If you want to change your home instance or add secondary instances in case you have multiple accounts, simply go to the script settings, accessible within Violent/Tampermonkey directly, or alternatively within any Lemmy instances' settings.
button to set your new home instance

Common Issues

Coming soon

  • Rewrite kbin post/comment links
  • Better rewriting support for kbin community/user urls (e.g. sort options are currently ignored)
  • Nicer tooltip styling (fit into page theme)
  • Signify that "Show at home" button is loading for posts/comments
  • Integrate with lmmy.to redirector
