I feel like this is fair to just ask if they know someone who can help. It gives the person an out in case they are on break or don't work there. I know I've been asked for help in places where I'm just another customer.

I had surgery back in 2015. I spent four days in a high care unit even though I was a routine case. The time was right after the Minions move came out. My husband got me a stuffed Bob that says goofy stuff when you squeeze it. I made every person who came in my room stop and squeeze that toy just to break the tension and get the workers to smile. Nursing is hard and you have to take joy wherever you can get it.
