That was everything I wanted!
Aviandelight
This is a Pixar short in the making.
I used do do L/S ratio testing for fetal lung maturity on amniocentesis fluids back in the day. The collection method and the testing is archaic looking back on it now. It's because of volunteers like you guys that we have much better testing methods for these things now. What used to be a harrowing method of collection and an 8 hour test is now done with a cervical swab and a 15 minute test.
I left healthcare 2 years ago. Most people are leaving these positions because of lean business practices leading to severe burnout. We would have no problems filling open positions if there was proper staffing and proper compensation. And I don't believe that money is the sole issue. When you are trying to do the job of multiple people and find yourself not being effective in helping patients because of elements outside of your control, you end up realizing that what money your are getting is no longer worth the hit to your mental health. People that choose these positions genuinely want to help others but there is a breaking point and we are seeing it in real time right now.
This is really sad. I was rooting for this man. I am glad that he and his wife got a little more time together.
Fuck it I'll gladly take the rebate and still not vote for that useless piece of shit.
There are ways to strike while keeping the bare minimum of staffing for critical care units. The problem is that most American healthcare systems are already staffed inadequately to the point that it would make no difference in care if there was a strike. It's not a coincidence that the main sticking point of the Kaiser strike was to force Kaiser to increase staffing levels for patient safety.
Memory, Sorrow, & Thorn series by Tad Williams is my all time favorite. I also noticed that I relate to different characters as I age which makes rereading it a fun experience.
Idk I see plenty of liquor-cycles in my neck of the woods.
Idk about CVS, but I know for a fact that the computer system used by Walgreens is abysmally outdated and unreliable. The company could solve a whole lot of their problems towards relieving employee stress and customer satisfaction just by updating the damn thing.
I had a very stodgy surgeon and I actually got a laugh out of him. He checked in with me pre surgery and as he was leaving said he would see me in the OR and I was like I hope I don't see you (meaning I hoped the anesthesia worked). No one else got what I meant except for him and he had a genuine chuckle.
I'll agree that was a click bait headline. TLDR - they removed his diseased lungs and used breast implants as place holders in his chest for about a day while they waited for donor lungs so his heart would be held in place properly.
