Yeah, that really bugged me too. It seemed so contrived - Hemmer clearly knew earlier what was happening, as did La'an.

Labor does have some good policies, but they need to be out there with snappy comebacks to Dutton's BS. Their small target approach served them well last time, but it's not going to work this election and it's terrifying how many people seem to be swayed by the LNP's propaganda.

Maybe, but I think it's more likely they'll want some pretense of legitimacy and rig them instead of cancelling them altogether.

So he's planning to rig the mid term elections.

Makes me wonder if this was Musk's plan all along - make Starlink indispensible and then leverage it against Ukraine when the time came.

Pretty sure Trumpism was just Nazism in a new hat.

Sorry Bernie, the US turned off that road years ago.

It's probably the well-known disconnect between the speed of onset of a disaster and the perceived significance. Climate change is a slow-moving juggernaut and not always obviously connected to day-to-day life, so it takes a back seat to the problems that people face right now.

Of course, there's also Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs - if one is struggling with the day-to-day necessities, they are hardly going to have the bandwidth to focus on more general issues (and as an aside, I have to wonder if this is also part of the political strategy in the US - you can't participate in activism if you're struggling to keep a roof over your head or food on the table each day).

You're welcome! I can certainly empathise with wanting to find people who have the same experience. If it helps at all, whilst I don't experience the struggle you do with composing emails, another person I know definitely does. Don't know if they prefer phone calls, though.

Agreed. I buy physical versions wherever possible. Plus video and audio are generally higher quality than streaming/digital purchases.

Adding extra zeros is such a lazy way to make themselves look better (unless they're expecting people are stupid enough to think they genuinely can mix up billion vs million). At least be a little inventive with fake numbers!

Not everybody has the same stressors or needs and hence won't have the same coping techniques. Nothing wrong with that. The important thing is that you've identified an approach that works for you.
