That sounds more like a kernel issue than a distro issue. Were you on regular linux or linux_latest?

I don't think I agree with that. There are other reasons to live in a more rural area like being more secluded, closer to nature or, more commonly, cost of living.

A rural area also does not imply car dependence. I myself have recently moved to a fairly rural area (1.5k inhabitants) and can still get just about everything done by bike.
This only works because the neighbouring village a few km away has a supermarket and a train station with service to the next largest city and a metropolis. It's not very good train service mind you (single non-electric rail with hourly schedule) but even that is enough for me to not need a car. Imagine how much would be possible if it was actually decent train service.

I can understand why you might want a car in such a situation but it's certainly not required.

I see.

Gmail also offers the option to use a custom domain. It's aimed at businesses but there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to use it as a private person.

Do you use a car sharing service or do you own a car? Because it sounds like with your usage pattern, the former might be cheaper.

I mean, it's already possible to not have mods if the mod decides to leave or delete their account, so that shouldn't be any different, right?

Subscribed is the front page equivalent, All is /r/All, local has no equivalent in Reddit.

Many paid email services such as Mailbox.org or Protonmail allow you to use custom domains. You don't need gmail.

Not exactly the solution you're describing but Tailscale or ZeroTier could be the solution to your problem.

They're P2P VPNs which don't require static IPs or even open ports.

I set up Tailscale to forward my home subnet via my NAS. That allows transparent access of the NAS itself and any other device on the home network no matter where I am (as long as there's internet).

You don't need to catch that moment live, it was already recorded.

Take a look at journalctl -b -1 (previous boot).

what would you say does nixos do over endevouros/arch?

Well, ..everything?

Conceptually, endavour/Arch are closer to Windows than they are to NixOS. The only commonality is that they're made up of the same software components.

The way you set up a software environment is totally different. I'd highly recommend some research on what NixOS' declarative configuration is and what it means in practice.
