I'm not a purist. I like old school D&D, the modern clones, NuSR and all sorts of RPGs.

It's more the mindset than the system for me.

Try Cairn or white Box with OSR Solo.

You'll thank me.

First of all, good conversation. I'm enjoying it.

I've been around almost five decades, and I can say without a doubt that yes, there are and have always been divisions in society, but not this segregation into hate camps that exists now. Not on this scale - previously, only extremists would be so disconnected from society. Now, we drive them into their safe spaces.

Even milquetoast blue and red flag wavers are shooting each other regularly where before there would be some mild eye-rolling, and this coincided with the rise of social media, which, as you say, has always been segregated.

Understanding and moderation comes with only one thing - compassionate discourse. You can't do that if you block ban entire segments of the community.

Did you read the article I linked? What are your thoughts?

I use it for desktops and servers. It's rock solid, small (compared to Linux) and performant.

I wouldn't use it if you like to run windows games or software, and sometimes hardware support can be sketchy. I've been lucky.

Try it out.

There are plenty of solo resources available. All you need is an oracle and your imagination. You don't need ChatGPT.

Actually experiencing racism in Japan.

If you're a white dude in a white country, you don't have any idea what it's like. My incident was super minor (being denied access to a restaurant) but it gave me a teeny peek into what life must be like for some people.
