Ah - that was why I was so confused. Canada, for example, limits the growth hormone in dairy cattle while the US does not.

The first time we stayed with the in-laws she repacked my luggage for me. We barely knew each other. Wasn't that nice of her? /s

Hello fellow non-psychopath!

I might wear jeans if I have to leave the house to shop, but that's usually just for an hour or two at most. When I get home the pants come off and put aside for use on another day. The same holds true for all of my "outside" clothes. It's just wasteful to wash something that's been worn for an hour a day.

That being said, there was a whole thing a decade ago with Levi's. https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/20140714180558-14928043-the-dirty-jeans-manifesto/

It's a bilious looking concoction made from a sausage base. It's made from cooked breakfast sausage, butter, flour, and milk. MILK.

I guess one could compare it to a bechamel if one were feeling generous.

Red-eye gravy is another aberrant gravy from the US south. Never tried it, but I'm sure there's some reason it exists.

I'm not a fan of the white gravy that goes over biscuits, but I'm on totally board with the gravy that goes with your fries. I will admit to some initial skepticism.

I would guess that this expensive looking piece of probably custom made glassware is used with some highly reactive chemicals where you wouldn't want to open it up to the atmosphere to add reagents. I could imagine a reflux condenser in the middle. The surrounding ports would each serve a specific purpose.

So - Here's an imaginary setup: You fill the main chamber with a solvent and maybe some boiling beads and a stir bar. One or more of the ports could be rigged up to include a thermometer or other probe. A sampling probe might be handy, for example. You'd start it up and add one or two liquid reagents via addition funnels connected to other ports. Let it run for however long, then either add the quenching agent or additional reagents.

This suggests that this is a well established (if small scale) process because there'd be no intermediate purification step.

Two and three necked versions of these are pretty common. This vessel is batshit, though. This also leads me to an alternate theory. Similar to one proposal for the roman dodecahedrons, this could be a glassblower's master thesis.

If it involves a fresh ham (aka uncured), you would be correct. Although those seem to provide adequate grease sauce, so please excuse my wild speculation.

Classic. A little googling will turn up gold for sugar free gummi effects

A lot of scientists sample the wares. It had to be explicitly banned at my workplace. "Organoleptic testing" was how they put it. There were several incidents, but the one with polyols was extra. (Sugar-free gummi bears will give you the gist of it. Link below) They just get bored and stupid. They'll check the LD50 (if known), then go to town if it's tasty enough.

I'm pretty much an omnivore who will try any species at least once. Raw oysters? Nah.

It seems like a food of last resort, so if I'm stranded on an island, maybe. If I'm wearing nice clothes and surrounded by other delicious foods, absolutely not.

Not on paper they don't

Someone certainly delved too deep, but the eldritch horrors are sleeping. They're content for now, but let's hope Billy doesn't get too curious. It looks like trouble brewing though.
