And people wonder why Snowden went outside of "whistleblower protection" avenues.

We all know such protections are useless if those exposed are powerful enough. Best to get it out beyond their control before they even know they have been outed.

At this point, the best outcome would be for Biden to self-sacrifice, and go on the ultra-offensive:

"Oh, SCOTUS is supporting the fact a President can commit insurrection, and is absolutely immune, or at least can't be prosecuted while or after being President?

Fine. I have just signed Executive Order #XXX, dissolving the SCOTUS and unseating each of this handpicked list of State and Federal Judges, effective immediately, replacing them with this other (waves big sheet of papers) hand-picked list.

Also, I have just signed Executive Order #YYY, calling for the immediate arrest and indefinite detention of this handpicked list (waves the thid, EVEN LARGER pile in his other hand) of Enemies Of The Republic.

Furthermore, I am resigning as President of the United States immediately, please stand and sing Our National Anthem to welcome President Kamala Harris to the Oval Office as the new Executive In Chief. Thank You and Good Night."

(Just in case there's a way to veto these Executive Orders, he should send guards to discreetly lock Congress at nighttime so they can't hold a vote just before he goes on TV.)

I think you'd see either some VERY quick backtracking by the entire SCOTUS, plus the GOP asking for an emergency meeting and a chance to make things right, or a short Civil War. Which is coming anyhow, by the looks of it, so might as well get it over with now.

He's near the end of his life, so why not perform this selfless act for the good of the nation?

Exactly. I can see the movie scene now:

"Your usefulness to me is now at an end... [maniacal Orange-man laughter]" :(

How can they NOT see, and not be frightened, that by not holding him accountable, they are literally opening up the possibility that he will dissolve the SCOTUS on his "day one" of being dictator? That would be ironic and I wouldn't put it past him.

Have you heard of our Lord and Saviour, APL?

Heh, 'garbage language' or 'garbage-collected language'? Until Go I considered the two to be the same :)

But yeah... the tooling is a strong point IMO.

(Package management went downhill once the whole GOPROXY thing was introduced. When 'go get' was the simplest way to fetch packages, things were great IMHO ... but I'm not doing big enterprise-y stuff so maybe my view is too narrow as to the issues of 'vendoring', version management etc.)

Concluding paragraphs are a thinly veiled bash at Golang and its creators. Whatever. I like Go. I like C. I like lots of other languages, for different reasons. Haven't learned Rust yet, but am already tired of the ivory-tower attitude of its proponents.

Hmm, if you could find a SCSI3->2 adapter, and then a SCSI->CompactFlash drive, you might be able to cobble a working solution together?

Can confirm. I can't give details, but ... yeah. Had to file a card just last month about a uint32_t UTC time value being used in a device-to-cloud message where it will definitely need to be upgraded to a uint64_t before good ol' 2038 comes ...

I searched some more, and I had to stop since it just made me more frustrated :)

Listen to this clip (find the Podcast link halfway down the page with a short audio clip):

The narrator even prefaces the discussion by saying "... EEE PEE OOOH CEEE EAYCHH". Guh!! :P

Thank you, sets my mind at ease to know it is not just me :)

"Atom" vs. "Adam" -- yes now that you mention it, you're not hearing things, Americans do say it differently.

This reminds me of something that constantly bothers me about youtube tutorials: I can tell instantly the presenter is American or was raised in America when they say ".. now go ahead and ..." rather than "now, ..." or "next, ..." when presenting step-by-step procedures. I don't know why, but it really bothers me, yet there is nothing 'wrong' about it.
