Do they have anything successful besides windows which even getting bad light due to privacy relates stuffs.
Back in 2011 I had Lumia 710. that device performed exceptionally well compared to Android alternatives but Microsoft fuvked it up by going apple way , making everything closed source, free games on Android were paid on windows phone os.
Wish we had some extension which could skip these CAPTCHA shits. I normally surf on mull (forked Firefox) though sometime have to use cromite (fork of bromite which is a fork of chromium) to access websites peacefully.

it was open source before google acquired it. ig because of licencing google failed to make it close source. plus google slowly removing features later introducing them in their proprietary code. you can use a degoogled phone. half the function will be lost. some apps won't even work. idk sooner or later custom roms will be luxury of past.
it's better to patch it yourself not a rocket science though.

Install From Dev's who make userbuilds with actual devices. Who said to install roms from a random dev.
