I honestly wish I liked mint because there’s such a robust community for it, but I really can’t stand it. My first Linux experience a decade back or so was Ubuntu and it felt -right- like android. I liked it very much because it did all the things I needed, and it felt good to use, like something I was familiar with (android!). The power file management was an absolute bonus and I just love it so much. But it’s based on iOS allegedly? I fucking hate iOS on mobile but maybe it’s the macOS? Idk. It’s not at all like iPhone iOS at least.

And I haven’t found the same experience on any other distro despite trying several, so here’s me back to Ubuntu every time.. because it feels good to use.

And “Ubuntu bad because reasons” and I get that for not me, but I don’t have the energy to figure out how to make Debian do what Ubuntu just already does. And the really niche distros I’ve tried idk how to make work for my needs, as noob.

At least it isn’t windows..

Not the best places to look tbh. Nothing personal, ofc, but stuff to be aware of. Nothing comes up for geico news search but as a major company I don’t trust them in the slightest. But navy fed and USAA have both proven to be garbage piles.

Man I bet, that shit is rough. I’m also super short (two standard deviations below average for my a/s/l) and it just never stops being a thing.

I’m actually thankful for all my gray hair so people stop treating me like a goddamned child. The gray has its own drawbacks ofc, but I don’t care anymore, just don’t treat me like a kid.

Yeah mate I don’t have that option. “Going ape/chimp” at my size and general demeanor just looks like impotent rage, because it is. What is a 5 foot nothing going to do against anyone as far as boundary enforcement? (I used to wrestle; I know how to throw myself around, and I know I don’t stand a chance if most people call my bluff, but I’m fierce until you do call said bluff)

And the people aren’t family, but society as a whole. My family is all dead and doesn’t matter. Until she died, my mom was my most vocal advocate, that woman loved everything I represented that she could never be but wanted. But I haven’t had her since I was 23, and I’m almost 40 now so..

Was that supposed to stop after 15?

Because as a woman-type creature, born and raised, that has been the whole life experience so far…

And I’m more than twice that age now..

I think this makes sense.

Motivations make you evil, not actions. Actions can make you evil if the motivation is there, or if you lack any motivation other than self-service, but if you are just a fuckup, are you actually bad? Sure if enough of your actions are bad even if the goal is good, it makes you a bad person, but does it make you evil? (I’ve played enough morally ambiguous virtue games to know the answer is no; they always forgive the antagonist if he repents and tries to do better)

Killing people is often, in games, portrayed as a good thing.. but not helping people doesn’t make you a morally reprehensible person.. helping them the wrong way does. And that’s hard to encode.

“My husband had to go to xyz to deal with the kobold problem, but he hasn’t come back yet”. Your options are help or ignore, and ignoring it isn’t inherently evil, it’s just not compassionate or caring. Helping the kobolds would be the evil act in this scenario and it’s never an actual option in most games.

If you are in any sort of unique demographic, like you aren’t a straight white male office worker, you might look for credit unions that serve your specific population.

Like if you do trade work, there’s options. If you are Hispanic there’s options. Veterans have several options, women and feminists have several as well. Just sort of look for whatever fits you and see what might be available on a more national scale.

And if you are a cishet white male office worker with nothing to distinguish you from anyone else there’s probably a credit union for that, too. The theme of the day is themes. Credit unions that aren’t regionally based are nonetheless community based, and I’m sure you fit a community.

Really tho I hope you find something that fits so you can buck the bank. Banks are horrible and we can do better! Through unions!

Edit: I looked up Star Trek credit union just for giggles and there’s a NASA credit union, hence the theme being themes.

I remember when I was maybe 14, 2001 or so, and my mom forgot to pick me up from wrestling practice after school.

We lived about 6 miles outside of town, and wrestling is a winter sport, so it was well dark.

I walked home along the side of the highway (in all black because that’s what I had that day…) after waiting well over an hour and calling several times (no cell phones). My options were to continue to sit in the glass entryway indefinitely or just leave and go home. It took me 3 hours, and when I walked in my parents were shocked that they forgot.. not that I made it home safely or that I felt feelings.. they were shocked at themselves that they forgot about me. (I wasn’t at that point)

I mean hell when I was 5-7 I was walking home from school daily, going around suburb town on my bike, and one time around age 6 I got lost for several hours (only a few streets from home, but so windy and confusing I was just lost..) it ended in trauma and an ER visit, but did not actually cause my parents to restrict my movement, when it absolutely should have. It was normal routine stuff back then.

I’m into parents caring more now, but man if someone had arrested my mother for allowing me freedom I’d.. have felt really bad for causing it.. that’s also intensely traumatic.

Sorry to hear. Have you considered looking for one that does app-based banking and isn’t local?

I mean some 15 years ago I had a credit union that was very very regional, and I moved. But they had good online options (keep in mind this was like.. 2009-2011 or so and things have moved so far since) so I kept using them for several years until I found a better local credit union.

Maybe that would be an option for you as well, assuming you don’t need to go in in person for stuff frequently.

I use a credit union and they don’t penalize for either one. There’s a small “get gud with money” fee for the transfer if you use overdraft protection, something like $1.50 or whatever, but I don’t think there’s an insufficient funds fee at all. They just decline the transaction. I mean it’s not like it actually costs them anything to compare the incoming charge to your account balance, so a fee for not being on the ball is silly.

So your options might actually be “eat the fee, or switch banking institutions”, but they won’t tell you that, ofc.

Cat buttholes are known in my sphere as “catsterix”

That’s all.. stop looking at me like that…

Does anyone else find it really difficult to play evil in games, like emotionally and morally?

I loved fable and got my angel wings and halo easy-pie; I never managed the horns and huge black wings. I tried, I really did, but I just can’t do it properly.. I feel bad for it.

Edit: Or wait is that what this is about, rather than just a specific game..?
