I read the Elder Race by him a few weeks back and it was great. Perhaps I need to look into his other works.

Yeah I agree, it's kinda weird.
Well the weekend is over but I will be continuing to play 2v2 in Mechabellum with a friend of mine. Has been fun even though we get crushed all the time.

I have been setting up my backyard hydroponic setup. Still quite a bit of stuff to do and some of my plants look a bit... Not well. Have been hand watering them for now but hopefully I get everything set up and I don't have to worry about it.
But dunno, I've checked everything and not sure why my plants are droopy and some yellowish. Perhaps it'll get better when I get the system up and running.
That seems weird. So the more people are here and longer Lemmy instances (any of them) are up the more storage each instance needs? Soon you can't have small instances because you will need tons of storage for all pictures that have ever been posted in any of the instances?

Thanks for the post! Been thinking of spinning my own instance as well because my Hetzner server doesn't get used that much. Though then I would have to actually make sure it stays up and that I won't just dip out one day lol.
It's not going anywhere. I'm sure like 90% of people there don't care at all what is happening. Probably more than 90, considering that about 5% used third party apps.
Yup first time here. Have heard of it and looked into joining Lemmy maybe you a year ago (probably due to some reddit bs) but decided not to. Took the plunge now and perhaps will take a peek at Mastodon at some point. Though I never used twitter so I don't care that much.
Afaik there has been talk of making a "server migration" procedure for an account. So if an instance is getting the axe in a month, everyone has time to migrate their stuff to another instance. Though this is not the case as of now.
Man, I read the book maybe two years ago and it just... sort of left no impression. The world was neat and weird but fuck it was weird. Maybe I need to consider a re-read at some point.
