I believe you are thinking in terms of a Turing-machine-like computer. I don’t think it’s possible today to “suspend” the bits in a quantum computer. I also don’t think it’s possible to know if the simulation could be paused (or even “added to” without losing its initial state).

I’m sure there are other examples, but Android is definitely the first instance I encountered of big corps trying to use “open source” as a benefit only to poison pill their offering into a nearly useless corner. One of the many examples of Google torching their positive reputation over the years.

Maybe we need support for basic shit like file browsing and PDF viewing packaged with the OS? They still manage to make the OS require over 7 gigabytes of disk space, but can’t manage to squeeze this in?

If you think there is any comparison here in terms of magnitude, you should probably go have your head checked.

I’ve had better luck after enabling the systemd nvidia-suspend.service (only for Nvidia cards, obviously).

I’m still completely baffled that Mozilla spent years working on Servo only to sunset it. Thank goodness the Linux foundation has picked it up. Why on Earth Mozilla has decided to prioritize incorporating some crappy LLM AI model over creating a ground breaking new browser engine is beyond my comprehension.

This is my biggest complaint about SCRUM / Agile programming. With the product owner always calling the shots, rarely will technical debt, foundational improvements and developer productivity make it into the sprint when an MBA-type is deciding where the effort should be “best” spent. So long Refactorman, maybe you’ll get to come out and save us when Agile becomes a fad or incorporates developers into steering the actual development.

When the CEO (which is most likely where this request came from) proposed this in a meeting, I hope someone let out the largest, most vulgar, violent, chest-rattling fart noise just to reaffirm what a useless bull shit idea this is.

Yeah I get that, but it’s more about stepping on the water hose.

Also, it's a hell of a lot easier to police inside our own borders. Guess what happens to the nice folks who run this shit within our borders?
