You can absolutely push changes to a system that you don't actually understand.

You might be right, but consider the alternative: "someone thinks that they're so much smarter than the people who originally designed, implemented, and maintained a system integral to the functioning of modern society that they dismiss out of hand the idea of caution when dealing with it in situ."

If someone of that description were in this situation, what do you suppose their behavior would be?

Holy shit lol

I'm more than a decade into my engineering career. Nobody pushes directly to prod on my team, not even me. Everyone gets reviewed and tested.

I read this and cackled in public. Because my god, however bad you think this is, it's way fucking worse. Idk what a reasonable reaction to this is but wow. Just wow. Fucking. Cooked.

Like member how everyone talked about graft in Russia resulting in funds meant for military maintenance being siphoned off the top instead of being used for what it was supposed to be used for? This is like that, except you don't even have to have any excuses or anything, the money just... Disappears.

Edit: Have you ever seen a check from the US Treasury bounce? These fuckers boutta be rubber.

Is your upright the one with all the little compartments? That one looked to me like the most efficient upright design I've ever seen.

Yeah, I haven't had issues with them generally speaking myself, if you're a leftist you'll find comrades. But also, it's important to remember that every instance is essentially its own little fiefdom, so you'll have to follow whatever arbitrary rules they have.

I caught a ban on .world for mentioning Jury Nullification. That was a fun time, from the people who complain about freeze peach constantly.

I've been a husband for almost 20 years now. "I don't feel like it" is plenty of fucking reason for not having sex. Full stop.

You are under no obligation to provide him with your body whenever he wants it. There are plenty of ways for couples to foster intimacy that aren't sex.

What would he do if you had cancer and just couldn't because of treatment?

What would he do if you were in a parasailing accident and in a full body cast?

This behavior is gross, I get having a drive etc. But that's his problem, not yours.

Remind him he's got a hand (or he can buy a fleshlight) and the internet if he's feeling that frustrated.

If you believe the Supreme Court is going to do anything positive, I have an incredible opportunity for you.

I have been tasked with selling a large amount of scrap iron. It is currently located in France, and you'll need to arrange for the removal, but I'm authorized to offer it for pennies on the dollar!

One of the most fun things is when you're trying to review generated code and it has mistakes that junior engineers would make in ways that junior engineers would never make them. Really scratches that "I wish I could waste two hours figuring out something fucking stupid" itch as a senior engineer.

They're pissy cause it being open source and more efficient means that it's gonna be more cost effective for people to use. Which is real bad if your company overcommitted to the slop and needs to recover losses.

In addition, be prepared for them to criminalize any actions that actually move the needle. If you aren't already a criminal, they will make you one.

I'm a Minnesotan, currently at my kids hockey tournament. This is an acceptable scenario.
