Not really, however both the death of Boromir and the siege of helms deep were relatively verbatim (as your misgivings are concerned, there are differences).

The Ghost army only kills the corsairs in the books, so your problem with the green wall of death killing the entire Mordor army is on point.

It's a matter of taste and interpretation, however.
