Hey but at least they are free of that damn socialism, that's worth fixing through the nose for!

I made one myself in my native Dutch language.

The word for 'rope' is 'tauw', which is pronounced like Tao.

'ik kan er geen Tauw aan vastknopen' literally means 'i can't tie a knot to it' but means 'i don't understand a thing about it'.

So: ' Ik kan er geen Tao aan vastknopen' is kind of a koan.

Compare gonorrhea. The Rhea is from Greek 'flowing', it's origin of the flow differs.

Those doing the electing have a great deal of input. If I recall correctly you were arguing against Harris last election cycle.

I have thought of a monadic theory of reincarnation.

A monad was vind by Leibniz as a particular individual being. This can be a human, animal, plant or even atom. All of these heb varient levels of consciousness. An atom can just sit somewhere in a piece of rock in the universe.

Of course atoms are day more numerous than more conscious brings. I like the idea that we could 'reincarnate' (as no meat is present in most of these) in many beings. But only very rarely one of higher consciousness.

That way your being a even low conscious being is very rare, even more so a being that can reflect on the natural world.

This way of thinking makes one more considerate towards other beings, as their time in this form is so rare and incredulous.

In Dutch it's called 'de Franse slag' or 'the French method'.

It's a bit culture-ist but it's not often wrong.

I was quite excited as I've never owned a car with low enough kilometrage to have this happen before.

I needed to make the pun desprately

Title is pretty descriptive. Cathartic to watch!

Last couple of days there's several issues with the UI. Thumbnails fail to load and symbols and letters are missing all over.

I have a thing with museum attendants chairs and photograph them.

Hi there!

Seeing the enshittification of Windows unfold, I'm curious about trying out Linux.

I don't want to move over my main machine just yet, but I've got a 9 yo HP Pavilion 15-e001ed spare laptop I want to experiment with. Eventually I want a gaming laptop that can run steam games.

When I googled I found a plethora of pieces of advice, but seeing the proselytizing for Linux here, maybe I could get a bit more personal advice as a potential conscript.

So what advice would you give me to start my journey into Linux?

UPDATE: Ok my cherry is popped, writing this from a fresh Mint install. It's suprisingly smooth sailing. Only thing is somehow software gets installed on my root partition instead of the home partition I made because people told me so.

But overall not nearly as dounting as I thought it would be. Thanks for the help everybody!
