Yeah I know. But I was trying to use a reasonably universal metaphor.

I agree. But weight is a health issue. So providing them health care equally to all other citizens is very different than altering society to accommodate them unduly. If we're using airplanes as an example, we shouldn't put "fat rows" into airplanes any more than we should bring back ashtrays on airplanes.

Supporting something as a health issue, and catering to it, are two very different things.

It's sad that we live in a world where the old show "scared straight" would get sued because it was hurting the kids 'fee-fees. The health care system can't tell them they're obese and have to do something about it because it makes them feel bad....fuck that.

Trump's followers are not sophisticated, politically savvy people. They're attracted to Trump because he's a bully. He (was) everything that they wish they were because at their heart they just want to laugh at others misfortune and he gives them that.

But think back to highschool. What happens when someone finally pulls down the pants of the bully; humiliates him in a crowd of people? That's right. His followers, that group of laughing Hyenas that follow him around, start to ditch.

Policy doesn't change a trump voter. Ethics doesn't change a trump voter. The only thing that changes a trump voter is showing them that their following a loser and a sucker.

That's because Bethesda's Creation Engine is a decrepit old shack being held together with random patches and so-called "upgrades". They've needed a completely new engine since FO4/Skyrim, or at least just adopt Unreal. Creation Engine is too old and slow to be capable of that kind of seamless play.

The greater sin for me was that Starfield laid bare all the flaws with every other Bethesda game.

  • The pseudo-choice that doesn't really make any difference to the story. You can do every faction's quest line. Making a choice doesn't preclude you making a different one once that quest line is done, nor does it have any effect on those other questlines going forward. Choosing the Freestar Rangers should, if not preclude you from joining the commonwealth, then at least have come up in the conversation when you're trying to convince the Freestar Ambassador to open the archive (for example).

  • The inevitable stat building in the same direction because it's simply the easiest way to play the game. You always end up a stealth archer. You always end up a sneak sniper, etc... You can try your best to spec for something else early on, and then quickly realize that it's not really all that much fun.

  • The impermanence of being a bad guy. Pay your bounty and suddenly everyone forgets.

In other Bethesda games, the storylines and atmosphere and sidequests were generally enough to forgive this kind of thing. But Starfield was so humdrum that you couldn't help but be annoyed by the same quirks that you forgave in other games.

Okular is great. Kate is amazing. Kdenlive is BY FAR the most advanced FOSS video editor. I'd easily put Kdenlive above Krita, but that's because of my particular use case.

With everything going wrong in the world today, I still live in child-like awe of photos from or of Space.

I'm grateful that I live in an age where I've seen photos from orbit become more and more high resolution. As scary as that hurricane looks, the fidelity of it looks absolutely beautiful.

dragging yourself out of the hole to get up and actually do it it much easier said than done.

That was how my doctor finally convinced me to go on Medication for my depression. I had been totally against it for a long time for a couple of reasons that I won't go into. But my doctor finally made me realize that the drugs aren't the cure. But the cure requires motivation and planning (therapy, schedules, exercise, routines, confronting negative thoughts, etc...) that can be impossible to even get up the energy and motivation to do.

So the drugs exist to basically give your brain the chemical assist it needs in order to get your ass in gear and start the process of getting better.

The good news is that almost universally, women vote in greater numbers than me. So on average its still breaking to the left.
