Conservatives are for the most part still deluded into thinking that his goal is to "balance the trade deficit."

It's horseshit. That's not his goal, it's his pretense; the idiot reason he gives his idiot followers so that they don't see him for the Russian asset he is.

Sadly, your father was absolutely correct. I like to think things have improved.

People need to wake up and realise that there isn't going to BE a "next election". At least not a fair one. Trump will win it the same way Putin and Orlov "win".

The sooner American's wake the fuck up to this and deal with it in the inevitable way, the sooner the planet can be done with this nightmare.

Now if you add a sliver of curiosity toward learning rudimentary French from the ROC

Technically we (rest of Canada) should already have rudimentary French since (at least when I was highschool) it was a core curriculum until the 9th grade, after which we had the choice to drop it or keep taking it as an elective. I stupidly chose not to continue, but still have the ability to understand about half of what I read or hear.

The problem in the ROC is the same problem that I have with my Portuguese; we simply don't speak it enough after highschool to maintain that base level of knowledge. It's something that I think most of us can dig up with some effort, but it doesn't flow off the tongue unless you're using it on a regular basis.

Took me a second to realise it's not "Theme at Bridge" and think "What the 'eff does that mean??!!"

Self Explanatory actually.

It’s basically self funded by me for now. I’m pondering at some point maybe doing a membership at like a dollar a month for hosting expenses.

Have you thought about applying for a CIRA grant? mstdn.ca did something similar with them back in 2022.

We have all of those things. Let's chat.

Sincerely Canada

It's still a long way to go. But it feels like we're doing a decent job of preventing destabilization from happening.

If Trump's hope is that hurting the economy somehow makes people switch to the Conservatives who will lick his mushroom and eventually hand over the keys, he's not aware of how much of a laughingstock P.P. Poppinfresh has become the moment Trudeau announced his resignation.

We have our share of Maple Maga to be sure, but they are both fewer in number, and mostly confined to two inbred provinces that constantly share their populations back and forth like kissing cousins.

I think Trump was not expecting the reaction he got when he hit us.

poking fun at its cultish, toxic community.

I don't feel like I'm in a cult.

But then again...that's just what someone in a cult would say...

Oh..God...NOOOOOOOO!!!!!

I've never been "pro-American" by any means. In my mind, what Trump is doing; (treating the rest of the world like client states, demanding everyone bend the knee) is just an escalation of what any other administration has ever done. But he does it loudly, bluntly, and with no thought to class or subtlety. Previous administrations made use of soft power and coercion while Trump's blunt stupidity just lays it all on the table, not bothering to hide it.

Well shit. You were my escape plan if Canada gets annexed by Trump or votes in our own version of him.

Not even exaggerating. Once my dual citizenship is registered (Portuguese parents), Europe is the plan.
