50 years of cuts to the education system and the demonization of the Liberal Arts (history, sociology, etc...)

A country that would rather keep a football program than an arts program is always going to suffer.

Then you do the same to the next one. And the one after that. And the one after that. Until someone gets up there and decides he/she doesn't want it happening to them too.

The point isn't that there's "going to be another"...that's just defeatism. The point is to make them realise that they will NEVER be safe. That there are people willing to do anything to see them strung up by their ankles in a town square.

Courage is contagious.

Give me a gun and a strategy to get close enough and I would gladly sacrifice my life. It's THAT fucking important at this point.

Nothing changes until people are willing to put their own lives at risk.

That wouldn't surprise me. I live in awe of he fact that he's not dodging bullets all day every day.

Canada needs to make a single nuke and make it clear that that nuke is pointed directly at Mar a Lago and not anywhere else.

Please stop parroting this notion that Canada's problems mirror those if the united states.

The number of so called "illegals" pales in comparison to the number of foreign investors buying up property and jacking IP the rental rates.

Good luck keeping that military fueled, fed and maintained for more than a couple of months when embargoes start to hit and your resource supplies stop flowing in from the countries he's pissing off.

My interpretation is they are using the data to see what went right with the landing (terrain, speed, altitude, when to fire braking engines, etc...) in the hopes of being able to reproduce safe landings on a consistent basis. Keep in mind the vast majority of landings still crash, and that can't happen when humans get up there.

In other words, you can't be good unless you know what good looks like. Since this landing was a success, they want to know what contributed to that so they can do it again instead of say...using the same design that made your previous lander topple over...ahem...

As a country that has largely abandoned it's own industries and become a net importer of goods, Pumpkin Putin doesn't have the leverage he thinks he does.

America needs the rest of the worlds products more than the rest of the world need them buying it. Will it hurt to lose that many consumers of your product? You bet it will. It'll suck ass and economies will suffer greatly. But not nearly as much as the U.S. will when they can't get their raw materials for the small amount of manufacturing they still DO do.

The only leverage the U.S has is it's military. And militaries run off of fuel, food and oil. It would be crippled within a month if everyone pulls a Norway and stops refueling them.

Canada seriously needs to make a big show of offering the same thing. It's now or never.

They already tried it. It's called Threads. It exists. People use it. And other instances have the choice to simply not federate with them.

To me (as unpopular as this sounds) that's the beautiful thing about FOSS and about Federation in particular. No one is stopping anyone from creating their own instance. Even Corporations.

It's the ultimate expression of "Anyone can do what they want, say what they want, believe what they want...but no one else is in any way obligated to listen to them/federate with them"

I know of companies that host small mastodon instances for their staff to communicate back and forth. I know of similar setups with lemmy instances. Anyone can use the technology for anything they wish to.
