If I'm being honest, So many little distros just come and go that I've stopped bothering to learn about any of them until they have enough support that I know the devs aren't going to just vanish in six months.
Sorry kid. Someone's gotta swing and they weren't ever going to let it be the rich guy.
Listening to a podcast about the race to the South Pole between Robert Scott and Roald Amundsen.
Amundsen had let it be known that he was actually going to the North Pole before (surprise) turning around and heading south. Then, not only did he beat Scott to the South Pole, he left a letter there addressed to Scott, asking him to make sure it got posted to the King of Norway,
Amundsen with the Big Dick Energy. While yes, it was also a safety measure in case Amundsen and his team didn't make it back. But the dick move of "Not only did I beat you, please be a dear and deliver that announcement for me" must have crossed Amundsen's mind at some point.
"There is absolutely no place for political violence in our democracy.."
Ummmm....I hate to the be the bearer of bad news, but your democracy was born from violence. It's quite literally the defining characteristic of your founding as a nation.
And I'm not suggesting that there is anything wrong with that. In fact I think the whole "violence has no place" schtick is naive to the core and no real change in history has ever occurred without violence.
The French Revolution was just a bunch of scrubs walking around until someone finally pulled out the guillotine. Hitler was just being "appeased" until he finally crossed a line in Poland. Napoleon laughed off diplomacy until the entire european world said "enough is enough".
non-violence just delays the inevitable. I'm sorry if that's an unpopular opinion, but it's been proven true again and again and again.
I think they'll try. But Trump supporters are loyal to one man...Trump.
The closest analogy would be Mussolini. (The fuckers even stand similarly and use the same mannerisms).
How long did Mussolini's cult last after he was dragged into the street and shot? How long did it take his last supporters to vanish like cowards as soon as he was longer up on the balcony in a building with his face on it thumping his chest.
Trump is no different.
Ron DeSantis
You can be a monster with charisma. Or you can be a caring person with a less than social personality
You can't be a monster with no charisma. That's the problem with everyone else in potential GOP leadership. It why they had little success until Trump came along. His monster came cloaked in charisma.
In short, Trump is the only GOP leader whose followers don't actually hate his guts. Boebert, DeSantis, MTG don't have people who actually like them, even on their own side.
No. Hard disagree. Trump is a classic cult of personality. They flock to him for his bombastic rhetoric and his hateful "no holds barred" speech. (can you say beerhall putsch boys and girls?
You take the personality out of the cult of personality, it folds. Maybe not right away, but it folds.
Making him a martyr would only matter if his followers, or his own ideals, stood for anything at all. But they (and his ideas) don't. They're just rabid dogs who enjoy someone who dares to say the quiet part loud. Once that's gone, they're effectively cowards with no direction.
This is generally how "folksy wisdom" keeps getting passed down generation to generation until it ends up in a farmer's almanac.
It sounds reasonable, and so gets taken for true even though it has no (that I'm aware) actual scientific evidence to back it up.
It's a causation fallacy. ie) correlation does not necessarily equal causation. Just because two things are statistically correlated, doesn't mean that one causes the other.
It's like if I were to say "Hey, The midwest has higher instances of heart disease. Therefore moving to the the midwest will give you heart disease." It's not true.
The two things are correlated, certainly, in that the mid-west folks probably for the most part has a much fattier diet, and are less likely to engage in healthier eating habits. But just the simple act of being in the midwest isn't a cause of heart disease.
Correlation does not equal Causation. Print it on a card and keep it in your pocket please. People not grasping that concept and passing off folksy anecdotes as "wisdom" has been the cause of too much suffering.
The literal definition of "kicking it down the road until he's no longer around".
Time travel is possible. Changing the future however, isn't.
It has to do with wave function collapse. The cat is both alive and dead until its observed, at which point the wave function collapses to reveal which it is.
So let's say you go back in time and successfully kill Hitler. Well you're now observing that outcome from a tangent timeline. In our timeline, that wavefront has already collapsed. There's no takesies backsies. Its immutable.
If you can go back and try again, your just creating new wave funtion collapses, not changing the ones that already occurred.
Its like re-rolling a dice because you didn't like the outcome. You can re-roll as much as you want, it doesn't erase that first roll; its still there, imprinted on the quantum foam of the multi verse.
