I think a lot of things started to go wrong right after Hilary said "When they go low, we go high".

Back then they were labouring under the assumption that the Republican Party (and voters) actually had a sense of shame; that if you stick to the "political" fights rather than throwing some shade, you'll eventually come out on top.

Now they (finally) know better. You gotta throw some shade in with that policy, and if you can make the shade humorous, all the better. Because the only thing Trump cares about is being seen as 'strong', and that's why this whole 'weird' thing is working as well as it has.

Historians don't use "BC" and "AD". Haven't for a while now.

While the arbitrary date remains the same (year zero), it's C.E. (common era) or B.C.E. (Before common era)

FYI

One of my professors said something that always stuck with me.

Canada is a mosaic. America is a meting pot.

(Yes I know he didn't coin the phrase). But he was the first who sort of explained it in a way that I truly understood.

In a multicultural America, you're American first, ethnicity second. The impetus is to conform with the dominant culture and pretty much just keep your ethnic culture in your own home and own small communities.

Here in Canada, we are a mosaic. Every culture contributes the best (and worst) parts of their culture/heritage to the whole. There is no "Canadian" default culture. Its just a blend of everyone who comes to live here. **

At least some natural/traditional remidies are legit

Yes. But that's not Homeopathy. Holistic/Herbal medicine is valid (for the most part). Heck, most medicine started out as our ancestors realising that this or that plant eased pain, or lowered inflammation or a hundred other things.

Modern medicine is mostly just a distillation of those age old cures into more convenient pill form.

But let's be really really clear here, Homeopathy is NOT "traditional medicine". It's a scam. This notion that because an infection makes your eye red, and an onion also makes your eye red, therefore a drop of diluted onion water will cure your eye infection is just a straight up insane at best, criminal at worst.

I can't help but think of the drug that President Roslin was taking on the Battlestar Galactica remake. But that's because I'm a nerd.

Why do I insist on reading things that make me angry first thing in the morning....

They don't deny anything. They simply parrot the views of whoever "donates" the most to their campaigns.

They have no convictions of their own beyond doing whatever is necessary to keep people giving them money.

You can't change the future (...of your original universe)

That die had already been cast, that wave function had already collapsed. The very act of traveling backwards immediately creates a new timeline no matter what.

Any change you make any step you take, is all affecting that new universe while your original universe keeps on keeping on the way that it was, except now without you in it.

So from your perspective, if you were to travel forward again, things would be different, yes. But only because you're no longer in your original universe. The people in your original universe would see no changes because in that universe, the wave function had already collapsed, the die had already been cast.

There is no chance to EVER get back to your original timeline no matter what. Every jump backwards instantly creates a new universe (one in which the wave function collapses to reveal that you have traveled through time) and every jump forward is in THAT new timeline.

Essentially, you can't go home again.
