I don't know about what's available in the US, but gel or injections have way less side effects than pills when it comes to estradiole, might want to look into these.

I already 100% supported this when you first brought it up, but i have to repeat this after having had another run-in with one of their usual mysogynist debatebro pigs earlier who was getting off about "dishonorable" sex workers on lemmy.ml. Fuck lemmygrad, it's become a reactionary shithole full of redditor brainrot. Fuck federation in its entirity, this thing has been a total shit show. Defederate from everything, i don't want this site to become micro reddit.

It's a pretty high bar to dunk on libertarian sexpats and somehow come off as more racist and mysogynist than them, but he really outdid himself there.
My country actually has at least decent standards of care for trans people, but they simply get ignored by large parts of our medical community. Finding competent trans health care around here is a matter of knowing who to ask for advice, and way too often only feasible if you live in metropolitian areas.
I see the same signs, as does the author of the piece, and thousands of other trans people out there. It's honestly grating to read this shit under an article going to such lengths to explain why cis people need to shut up with denying other peoples' transness, none of you have the tiniest understanding of these issues. You just lack the experiences we're talking about here. Your ignorance of this, your insistence to be able to judge who is trans enough is part of decades of cis people policing our identities and our right to live as our authentic selfs, to access life-saving medical treatment, to simply exist. Your mindset has destroyed thousands of our siblings, it has taken years or even decades away from all of us that we could have spent as ourselves instead of trying to survive and prove ourselves worthy to people like you. It's disgusting to have to read this in a safe space for trans people, disgusting and infuriating.
So yeah, as the other person said, learn to read and go fuck yourself.
That's a good way to put it.
Transmedicalism and its cisfascist views on what's a "legitimate" trans person are still pervasive in many parts of the world. Go ask people in a western country how many of them think you can be a woman when you have a penis, results won't be pretty. Japan has societal attitudes towards LGBT rights that are comparable to a lot of western countries - in fact, gay marriage has more public support there than in the USA, but is still illegal. Lawmakers and other elites are chronically lagging behind public acceptance, as they always do. Transphobia is something that is implemented top-down, it's incredibly hard to get rid of on a legal level.
These are the real painful cases, the ones were the only outlet for all the repressed dysphoria and internalized transphobia was violence. Forcing people into the closet has always led to some people harming others instead of having to harm themselves. It's part of why fascists want people to repress as much as possible, it makes it easier to turn them into tools for murder.
Both sex changes and assuming behavorial roles of another gender happen all the time among various animal species. There's accounts of trans people that are as old as writing itself, but the fluidity of sex and gender goes all the way back through evolutionary history. Sorting everything into two clearly labeled, seperated boxes that you can never leave is a fairly recent trend that is rooted entirely in ideology, but we all know that transphobes can't grasp biology that goes beyond what you learn in 3rd grade.
There's days where it feels like my favorite part of transitioning because i can actively influence what happens. With HRT, i just have to wait what happens, with laser hair removal or surgery i rely on somebody else's skill, but voice training is an active process where i can make conscious choices about the direction i want to go in. ofc i may be a bit of an outlier in that regard because i can view my voice as an instrument instead of a dysphoria-inducing part of myself and because i don't care much about passing anymore.
I doubt that Israel is the only place making estradiole, it's not that hard to synthesize from phytoestrogens and there's no patent on the procedure anymore afaik.
