I just had somebody bail on a hotel we booked because they read on a reddit thread that the site I used was a scam. Checked out the thread and it's the most obvious corporate botted comments I've ever seen saying the site is a scam while I've used it in the past and there were no problems

I even called the hotel directly and yup, confirmed my reservation no problems. Person still doesn't trust it because of the reddit thread. Even though they can also literally just call the hotel themselves

I'm actually so done with Americans, Anglos, whatever. Dumbest people on this planet. Dead internet theory will kill us all. China will be the only country left with literate people because of AI restrictions

OP asked why Kendrick didn't say anything about Palestine

I very misremembered his bars but this is directly related to the conversation at hand

Idk, I live here and I think the numbers are inflated because of tech bros tbh

100k = 65k after taxes

You can find a nice studio in downtown or 1 bedroom outside downtown center for 1.6-2.2k, after utils. Ignore the median rent in the article, it's cause of all the luxury apartments that are needlessly expensive for tech bros

65k = 5.4k /month

After taxes and rent you have 3.4k a month?

In a city that's tiny and has a workable public transit system so you also don't need a car

For a family for 4

Single income earner making 100k is doing perfectly fine

[–] AcidLeaves@hexbear.net 4 points 1 year ago

60-150k

Median is probably 100k

I think this is also what the average new grad makes in London in the private sector...

Certainly half of what new grads are paid at the big players

On a more serious note I give very often to mutual aid posts here. If you ever make one I'll probably be one of the donors

Almost impossible, some sort of base super structure theory going on here?

Anyways I kind of did that except I didn't penny pinch, just tried to min max financial strategies (credit cards, options trading, interest rates, etc.) but like, maybe 60% of the extent of what FIRE guys do. Still way more than the average person

And tbh, yea, I did end up becoming somebody who's weird with money and wealth despite intellectually being radicalized and now I'm still trying to unlearn all of that

I was never reactionary or a neoliberal even before radicalization, I was just thinking about money far too much

There's absolutely nothing wrong with having healthy financial strategies, sometimes to the point of obsession, and aiming for FIRE especially given our fucked up government who doesn't care about us, as the author herself says

But every single person I've met who does this is a reactionary neoliberal
