Fair, I'll just be patient

One issue I seem to run into quite a bit now is that if I try to access a community from another instance from this account I get 404 errors as example if I try to go to: https://startrek.website/c/pcmasterrace@lemmy.world

I'm wondering If this is intended behaviour or something I might have done wrong?

Can anyone tell me the advantage of selfhosting Lemmy?

I have my Raspberry Pi which is only doing pihole atm and I've got an M2 Mac mini with some spare resources with docker installed so I've got hardware for it but what does it actually do?

Honestly Plex/Emby/Jellyfin whichever you prefer is a gamechanger because if you have a large library of content then it just cuts the cord from the subscription services.

I've always been happy to pay for them until I went on holiday last January and realised that none of my services were working due to going to a country that was out of the way and the only way to access them was to use a VPN.

So having my own Netflix is a great thing.

Tailscale while doing the above is also really cool

The first Mad Max movie, just feels like a slog at times to get through and when you finally finish it there's no resolution it's just a cliffhanger into the next movie.

This one is really a big deal and people don't really take it so serious, this was actually something that would get a lot of attention for Reddit outside of Reddit. I wouldn't be surprised if the Admins take over the subreddit long term to get that turned around or come up with another solution for it because while celebrity envy is gross it does attract the masses.

Yeah that's a good way to put it, when I picked up my Air recently I was extremely frustrated by how it didn't quite do things quite like Gnome 40x and how it missed some of the Windows things like Window Snapping but once you get used to the gestures it's not so bad.

Also yeah virtual desktops are a god send on Gnome/MacOS it's frustrating to not have them on Windows.

undefined> If you’re trying to get it to act like Windows or your favorite Linux window manager, you’ll find it frustrating. However, if you absolutely insist then you should just install a third-party window snapping tool.

I mean there are things in Gnome that I prefer but what I found useful was to start using the workspaces / virtual desktops more and using the three finger swipe up a lot on my Air. That helped when using multiple profiles on chrome a lot because using cmd + ` was just not it for me.

Auto snapping would be great but at least you can tile windows to left / right so that's something and you can add keybinds for it

The Siege of AR-558 is one of my favourite DS9 episodes during the Dominion War because it really shows you the gritty horrible nature of war, up until that point it never really hits you but then you see these guys on the front lines for months at a time turning into as quark says blood thirsty klingons.

My only gripe with the episode is it would have been a fantastic two-parter.
