AFP: “The Biden administration has for the first time approved a direct US military aid to Taiwan under an assistance program aimed at foreign governments. Do you have any comment on this?”

Wang Wenbin: “The US decision to provide weapons to China’s Taiwan region under the so-called Foreign Military Financing used for sovereign states seriously violates the one-China principle and the stipulations of the three China-US joint communiqués, especially the August 17 Communiqué of 1982. This move seriously violates international law and basic norms governing international relations, undermines China’s sovereignty and security interests, harms peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait, and sends gravely wrong signals to “Taiwan independence” separatist forces. China deplores and firmly opposes them. There is but one China in the world and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China’s territory. The Taiwan question is entirely China’s internal affair that brooks no foreign interference. We urge the US to earnestly abide by the one-China principle and the stipulations of the three China-US joint communiqués, stop enhancing military contact with the Taiwan region or arming it by any means or under whatever pretext, stop creating factors that could heighten tensions in the Taiwan Strait, and stop conniving at and supporting the separatists’ attempt to seek “Taiwan independence” by force. No one should underestimate the determination, resolve and capability of the Chinese people in safeguarding our sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

“Over 500 Japanese residents from across the country gathered in Fukushima's Iwaki City on Sunday to protest the nuclear-contaminated wastewater discharge. They came from 375 civil groups nationwide and demanded an immediate stop to the discharge which started on August 24. It was by far the largest protest against the discharge.”

“China has expressed its solemn position to Japan over stopping the nuclear-contaminated wastewater discharge through diplomatic channels, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said on Monday.”

Around 5,000 protesters gathered in Seoul on Saturday to condemn Japan's release of nuclear-contaminated water into the sea, and to criticize the South Korean government for endorsing the release plan. The protesters urged the Japanese government to immediately terminate the discharge, while demanding immediate action from the South Korean government to stop Japan's dumping of the radioactive water.

"If people eat this kind of contaminated food, it will affect the health of millions and millions of people, for many, many years." Observers say Japan's discharging of nuclear-contaminated water into the ocean may pose long-term threats to human health and the marine environment.

“Secret reports recently revealed by National Public Radio (NPR) have exposed the torturous reality of immigration detention in the United States. Among the revelations were gross medical negligence, unsanitary conditions, rampant racism and frequent, unprovoked, brutality against detainees. Silky Shah, Executive Director of Detention Watch Network, joined The Freedom Side to discuss the reports, the brutal conditions inside immigration detention centers, the connections to the broader US prison system and what needs to change in immigration detention policy.”

  • “The US is creating military assistance packages for Taiwan similar to those it creates for Ukraine ahead of a Ukraine-style proxy conflict Washington seeks to create with Beijing;”
  • “The US is also passing legislation serving as a stepping stone toward pushing its Taiwan proxies toward declaring "independence" and triggering a conflict with the rest of China;”
  • “Meanwhile, Russian and Chinese warships approach "US shores," however upon closer examination, these incidents are happening near the Aleutian Islands closer to Russian than to the continental US;”
