It’s what happens when it’s all quota driven. Even if there are some who want to actually find criminals, you’ll never hit your quota that way. You have to pick off the easy ones such as stalking immigration court, going where they work, or school
So many times watching a car crash video, someone hydroplanes through a puddle …. my first reaction is I bet they live somewhere without safety inspections and those tires are bald
You’re talking about the vice president? But instead of trafficking teen girls, we’ll see endless articles on sofas
DOE gives salvation to “beloved” oil companies
Hertz was always bad at this anyway. For me the final straw was turning a car in and the guy recorded damage. I stayed there for several minutes making him point and describe, shining flashlights at angles, and was never able to see the damage.
It was one of the few times I got the damage waiver so I didn’t actually appeal it. If you get Hertz, definitely get that coverage: you’d be a fool not to. And factor that in when comparing prices with other rental companies
Even that’s not fair since efficiency isn’t the same thing as road usage. And one of the reasons gas taxes cover so little of the cost of roads is efficiency improvements over the last few decades.
Even before you take EVs into account, taxing by weight and mileage is more fair.
Then when you do take EVs into account, how do you adjust for usage, for road damage, and for your choice of vehicles? Is it fair to charge the same for a monstrous Hummer EV as for a Peugeot city car? Is it fair to pay the same for your Tesla driving 10k/year as for an ICE BMW of the same weight driving 30k/year? Taxing by weight and mileage is more fair for everyone
That’s insane. Either Chevy is really shitty at building EVs or those are two very different vehicles with the same name
Still don’t think that’s representative
I’ve done pretty well with this: stainless and cast iron pans, wood cutting boards, stainless or silicone utensils, glass food storage, stainless water bottles …… and I’m watching my rice cooker closely in anticipation for when I can rationalize replacing it with one having a stainless pan
Yeah I gave up on free swag for exactly this reason. If I have to hand wash it, it’s not free. If I only get one use out of it, it’s worse for the environment than a disposable water bottle. Sometimes “free” is just too expensive
I know the feeling: what a horrible summer this has been here too. I switched from heat to air conditioning in only a week. It’s just hitting me that summer is almost over yet I haven’t been outside. It’s been 90° or raining just about every day
