Ford pardoned Nixon, and Ford lost the next election. And the pardon probably played a part in Ford losing. So the system still sorta worked then, if imperfect.

Is Mimi the cat's servant? In that case yes, it is valid to question "Mimi thinks she owns the place".

Since posts on Truth Social are per definition called "truths" (like "tweets"), I guess they are per definition not lies? Unimpeachable logic.

Checks and balances doesn’t work if one party is in charge of everything.

Nixon could not have been convicted without Republican votes. But Nixon resigned, because he knew Republicans would vote to impeach and convict him. So the system can in theory work, even if the system depends on policing its own.

It is in fact quite normal across democracies, for stuff like this to depend on the votes of the party in power.

The problem here is that Republican representatives are traitors to their oaths. And more importantly, that Republican voters are not demanding their representatives to not be traitors.

So Republican representatives simply know that they only get reelected if they act tribally Republican. Note that this is generally not a problem with Democrat voters.

The news media has been overtly incompetent here. As you say, it is not a blockade.

If it was a blockade, then the Russian ships would be stopped. Since it is not a blockade, only an idiot would expect the Russian ships to be stopped.

And after the media circle-jerking each other into falsely calling it a blockade, the media is surprised that the ships are not stopped by the "blockade".

The tweet is linked, but doesn't give any details. So we don't know - and it might well not be true. What can be asserted without proof, can be rejected without proof.

I am guessing he can’t throw Vance under the bus for it since he’s probably on record for saying it was a bad idea. Miller or Hegseth maybe?

As far as I can tell, Trump's mental decline is so advanced that he can no longer create coherent lies. Some of the messaging around the Iran was has been mindbogglingly and transparently stupid.

So I don't think Trump will be limited by small details like blaming someone who is "on record for saying it was a bad idea".

Vance famously said that Trump was America's Hitler. And then when given the chance for power, enthusiastically became Trump's VP. Vance is also quite intelligent, if lazy. Vance is obviously a nihilist opportunist.

So my money is on Vance not believing a word of it. But just saying it because Vance thinks it will give him votes when he runs for US President.
