Some people with down syndrome are able to live and function independently, and even among those who don't, they are disabled adults with higher support needs, not children. Typically intersex people are assigned either male or female at birth. If they are born with ambiguous genitalia, they are given surgery as infants to make them match their assigned sex (which has many negative side effects such as scarring, sterility, pain during urination/sex, and gender dysphoria). Conservatives are generally in support of this practice, and laws that have been passed against trans healthcare have contained exceptions to allow for nonconsensual procedures on intersex children
