Whats scary is that 90% of my own city looks like that. I literally would not be able to say whether that was a picture of a different city or not if somebody showed it to me. The other 10% is some rundown buildings from the 1800s that weren't bulldozed because they were churches or sat next to them.

Tried to cross ice covered river in the middle of winter. Fell in halfway through much to my chagrin. Turns out the ice was a lot less stable farther from the riverbed and I thought after testing the side of the river that the ice was thick enough to hold me. Honestly the walk home was probably the closest I have ever come to dying. I was about an hour walk away from home. My fingers stopped working before I got out of the woods.

I did, it was probably one of my favourite Sanderson standalones. It was weird reading it before Wind & Truth though since I found out about Sigzil killing his spren and becoming a skybreaker before actually seeing the scene where he kills her in Wind & Truth.

Post Wind and Truth spoilersSince stormlight is gone the old magic system is also kind of dead. I am excited for a more cosmere aware storyline though. It feels like things will be ramping up into a full out war between Shards after Dalinar's gamble. Basically everybody vs Retribution which will be a awesome fight.

Wind and Truth was great but I was kind of sad that the first arc of Stormlight was done. Of course I don't want to spoil the ending but I feel like the second arc will feel like a completely different world and I am sad I won't get to see more of normal Roshar. The worldbuilding and magic systems are just awesome in Sanderson works.

Just started Winter's Heart and I am excited. There are a lot of plot threads that need to be resolved and I am hoping they happen in this book. Mat during CoS ended in a cliffhanger and I know that he will finally meet the Daughter of the Nine Moons. Rand needs to cleanse saidin and also meet back up with Elayne and Aviendha. Perrin needs to find Faile again which I am kind of annoyed since Faile's capture seemed like an unnecessary and I dislike the Shaido chapters. I would rather have Perrin and Faile go ahead solve the actual problems in Ghealdan they needed to solve with the Prophet and were sent there for than an entire book of Perrin chasing after the Shaido. Its kind of awesome to get a book with a bunch of Mat, Perrin and Rand again in one. I wish I had more Mat and Perrin chapters and this delivers.

Is it just me or is there something special about reading a book on public transport? (sh.itjust.works)
 

I don't know what it is but I feel like there is something especially enjoyable about reading on a train or bus. Like I would be fine with making my commute longer because it dosen't feel like wasted time since I am reading. Also its just nice to be stuck somewhere for a bit with nothing to do but wait and be forced to read.

Hello anybody know how to flash debian to EMMC on an Orange Pi 3G IOT B? (sh.itjust.works)
 

I can't seem to get it to work. I always get these errors in the terminal when running the spi flash tool that they recommend:

Scanning USB port...
Search usb, timeout set as 3600000 ms

and then eventually an S_TIMEOUT. I think my thinkpad is not even detecting the orange pi at all through usb. Anybody have experience with this. The official documentation is really bad. I also seem to get this on startup of the flash tool:

So basically I stupidly tried to update while my thinkpad had low battery and it powered off halfway through the update. The system wouldn’t boot because it was complaining that vm-linuz/linux was not found so I performed a chroot-rescue and got it to boot again. I must have messed something up during the process because now the device wlan0 is not showing up in iwctl device list. How can I fix or diagnose this issue? (I am using btrfs if that helps). Has anyone had a similar situation and can lend a hand?

My Thinkpad T480s randomly dies with Arch Linux. (sh.itjust.works)
 

I can't find an active thinkpad centric community on here I am just going to post here. My Thinkpad T480s, 16 GB RAM, 238 GB SSD is randomly shutting off while at like 50%. When I try to open it back up it always is dead and I have to connect charger to boot it up again. Why is this happening? Is it battery issue? It complains about not being able to read temp2_input while shutting down and sometimes say PM usage count underflow. Not sure what that is supposed to mean.
