I can’t stand for this protest, it’s so gd cynical.

The only cause I can support is “everyone sucks including me”

Tldr: New desktop environment designed for PopOS (but usable elsewhere)

The problem with this comment is some people could say this word for word with zero irony lol

That kind of log floating behind ships was where the term log comes from. They’d throw them overboard and let them drift out over some interval and they’d mark down “log took 30 seconds to drift out to end of rope” to determine their speed.

It’s not horrible and yes a little pedantic. Also OP just copied the title from the blog so no fault there. Maybe something like “Python 3.13 will ship with experimental JIT flag” would have been more precise but it’s no big deal. I was more dropping a comment to summarize for others who hadn’t read the article rather than to be overly critical of title

Not that I support it but does anyone know why Putin doesn’t just have this guy killed? Putin has lots of people killed and I feel like I’ve been hearing about this guys imprisonment for years. It’s surprising he’s kept alive in prison indefinitely rather than added to the pile. Is the fear it would trigger a bigger movement / martyr him?

This is awesome. The title is misleading though, it’s being checked into the code base and can be enabled with a flag. No guarantees it’s included in the base interpreter anytime soon

Beyond backwards, it is. Completely misleading too.

He is being urged to testify not doing the urging

Yeah well one time he made fun of people I find icky and they meekly said “don’t make fun of us please” so actually Dave is the best comedian to ever have existed and has never done anything wrong. You ever considered that?

(/s duh but just in case lol)

It might also be environmentally precarious but I’m interested in seeing some of the ocean current and heat differential and other non river hydro solutions being proposed.

Doomerism encourages apathy and helplessness. I don’t agree with resigning ourselves that the situation is unfixable. Every .1 degrees we can shave off is worth fighting tooth and nail for. As far as whether humanity as a whole is sustainable indefinitely, I don’t buy it. Even if we run out of rare earth metals 1000 years from now that’s 1000 years we have to fix that problem.

The universe is unsustainable, life is inherently doomed because of entropy. Doesn’t mean we should give up because there will be no usable energy in 100 trillion years or whatever. The sun will burn out in a billion, the earths orbit will be too hot in 100 million. Would that still not be worth living for just because it can’t be saved? Where does it go from no point to worth fighting for?

(OP I’m not arguing with you I’m pointing out the problems I have with the article. I do agree it’s gonna be bad no matter what… all the more reason to try)
