Threads still hasn't implemented ActivityPub

I’m on kbin.social and when I go to /d/threads.net it is very active. I would not be able to go there if they haven’t implemented activitypub and federated.

They also did a mathematical theorem.

I’m on kbin, plus the cis het thing going on, and I say do it. People are here, which reddit has been missing for years.

No corporation would want to enter a nascent growing space to play around in that sandbox. Play nicely with everyone and even offer some cool new toys that excite everyone enough to try their stuff out. Then that corporation would never invite everyone to play inside their yard with the awesome stuff, inviting everyone everyone knows to the party; then locking the gates at midnight and shut off all the toys to everyone outside the gate. Not once had this ever happened in the tech world.

Because meta wants to: 1) embrace fedi and open it up to their users, 2) extend all possibilities in fedi forcing more users onto their instance and apps, 3) once they become the defacto instance and interface they will extinguish fedi.

The WhatsApp creator left Facebook early, leaving $850 million behind, because he thought they were pure evil, and then he went to the signal creators and threw money at them to not sell or turn into a shit show. He is now the interim CEO of signal. He plans to keep it as a private foundation that is using a donation model to keep it going.

Also, if you work for an employer that asks you to download signal for work communication, make sure you record all conversations by screenshots or screen video. People can wipe signal communications remotely and this can give employers deniability while putting things on the employee. Practice CYA at all times.

Historically, most train accidents involve another vehicle; be it car, plane, trucks, or another train. Train crossings are a big issue for trains because people do things they shouldn’t. In 2022, by this point in the year there had been 8 train accidents with only 2 of those being the train derailment or infrastructure issue that caused the accident. This year has been special, meaning we’ve had a lot of train accidents that are the train or infrastructure issues that caused the train to crash. We’re at 11 train accidents with only one involving another moving vehicle.
