I think this would have worked better with a meshtastic node hooked up directly to the pi while using the meshtastic python library to interface with that device. You could then display any messages sent to all devices, though it wouldn't help much to grab messages sent to other users since those are encrypted for that particular user. Using the hackrf to decode messages seems like it would be a lot harder, though possibly doable. I don't know how encryption works on meshtastic, since I haven't looked into the messaging protocol at all, but you might be able to find a vulnerability with the encryption that would allow you to see messages meant for different nodes. That's something the hackrf would probably be better at.

This attack could have been easily averted... If anybody uploads code to a repo that uses some version of rm -rf / that should automatically be rejected. This is basic malware detection. If they had done anything to obfuscate that functionality, we probably would be finding out about this way too late.

I feel like adding google code to a password manager creates opportunities for google to scrape data, which in my opinion is a huge vulnerability. Third party code libraries, especially from a company like google could expose user data and when we are talking about a password manager the consequences could be devastating.

To be honest, this always happens. So what? Most people want their corporate social media. My parents will never stop using Facebook no matter how bad it gets. I think focusing on metrics like what most people are doing is just a race to the bottom. If we keep building what we want to exist in the world and stop focusing on which platform does the best numbers, I think we will find its quality that counts, not quantity.
