I remember reading comments on Slashdot circa 2005 "explaining" why video streaming would never replace physical media. I totally bought it at the time.

This was a moment in time when Netflix existed, but it only sent DVDs through the mail. Only took a few years before their streaming service took off. Also, YouTube showed up around that time (and then Google bought it).

Embroidery is work, too

How would this be any different from more people existing in the world? These AGIs still need to eat (err, consume electricity). Or are you assuming they'll be superior intelligences and thus disruptive?

This comic seems to be about bad programmers, so maybe they don't have version control 😬 When I'm working on something especially fiddly and I finally get the tests passing, I immediately make a git commit before even trying to clean it up. That way, I have a checkpoint I can return to if I accidentally break anything.

I know that free will doesn't exist and I wouldn't choose to have it any other way

I'm not an engineer, I don't know how it works. I can touch the transparent window without getting burned, so it appears the window is insulated.

Maybe it works like this? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Insulated_glazing

I hate when the dishwasher says it's low on cyan gnomes, but I can see them right there

My oven is super insulated, yet it still has a window

It still blows my mind that a plant is illegal. One with medicinal uses, no less. What will they think of next? Banning sunshine?

Exactly. This sounds like selection bias in action. If you're sampling adults who have ADHD and asking if it's better from when they were kids, you've already skewed the results beyond repair. You need to follow kids with ADHD into adulthood and see if it gets better.

This was circa 2010, and we didn't have CSS appearance property yet. It wasn't that much work, but I'd say it was non-trivial and I found it super annoying that I was going out of my way to make a UI that doesn't work the way users expect.

Reminds me of the time that a customer wanted square boxes and checkmarks in a web form, but only one was supposed to be selectable. I was like, this already exists — it's called radio buttons. But they just had to be checkboxes for some reason.
