Found a kindle something or other and a Paperwhite gen 1 for approx. 5 USD. They both remain offline 100% of the time, and they work flawlessly for sideloaded epubs. The Paperwhite even came with some preloaded books (not in my interest genres, but still cool for approx. 5 USD).

there's no way for anyone, including X, to read your messages.

That defeats the purpose of a messaging platform.

I know what they meant, but the phrasing is so, so stupid. Anyone who is considering this platform, should think twice before doing so. If they get the phrasing of such a simple sentiment this, incoherently wrong, what does their code look like and what do the encryption protocols look like? If I'd have to guess... AI slop.

Not sure why you're getting those. None of mine are msn icons.

So, what you're saying, is that those devices are the epitome of cute? Cool. OP, mark it as solved.

I'm not talking about standard breaches. I'm talking about security laziness. If you want to trust them, go for it. As for me, I choose to distrust their security practices due to their long history of security laziness and neglect, that continues to this day.

They say it "June 1st", as opposed to "1st of June", so it makes sense to write it that way. That, mate, was a hard lesson to learn for me lol.

Not speaking about the evil empire bit at all, actually (though they are). More so of the security aspect. They're known for cutting corners on security to the point that their security neglect has created the situations needed to cause some of the greatest security vulnerabilities worldwide. Read up on EternalBlue as a good segue.

trusted company to whom I could rely on for my security

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic...
