And if you "block" it through GPO, it only blocks the user accessible button. The thing still collects data, digests it, and ships it off to Microsoft. I tried replacing the exe with a blank file, taking all permissions to my user and denying to SYSTEM. Update replaced it. Honestly, though, this feature of Update is a good one (fixing/replacing corrupted files). Just wish it didn't mess replace my ai.exe file lol

There was talk about teleporting a photon, but it was a mathematically possible (but technologically impossible) theory. A whole human is a pipedream.

I saw the name, and immediately thought, "sweet! Another kde tool!" Then finished reading the title lol Looks like a good editor nonetheless

Edit: requires access to manage storage, which is excessive for a text editor. Pretty sure it has to do with its other features, which is fine, but I don't feel comfortable with this type of access for any third party app. If you're fine with this access, Xed/Karbon really looks useful. I might add it to my coding tablet.

Not really fear mongering, when Microsoft has proven that the "for now" is held up. Like the whole Recall fiasco. They canceled it "for now", and now it's published. Their "for now" is actually "for just right now, until heat subsides". Microsoft can go suck on a tailpipe.

I don't agree with all of this. I agree with the investigation. I agree with the ban. I don't agree with waiting for anything. Ban it, irrespective of the investigation. It's a cesspool, and no investigation is going to fix that.

Edit: autocorrect.

We each have our own levels of acceptable privacy posture. Signal make it easier for the masses to get off, say, Whatsapp and feel little to no real hurdles. I agree with you, though, that the phone number and physical phone requirements are a hard sell for people with a more strict posture requirement, which was the reason it took me long to get on it. But, alas, I had to settle, because SimpleX wasn't available on iOS at the time (my family and friends are on iphones) and it is much more private that Hangouts or Whatsapp (which I still can't believe we were on). We did try Matrix for a time, but it wasn't "production ready" then, which was a deterrent to them as well. Signal being centralized wouldn't be a huge deterrent for me, if it wasn't for their continuous push to keep it that way and them actively preventing decentralization, both of which have been scratching me the wrong way for a while. I had a conversation with my groups to switch to something else, but they're not all on board. Signal, they say, is "as easy as Whatsapp and more private". I mean... they're right, but we could have better.
