I tell Blexit people:

You're a black American who abhors the Democratic Party because you're a conservative.

I'm a black American who abhors the Democratic because I'm a socialist.

We are not the same.

It's sad because I love it when black Americans are socially conscious to the point of being revolutionary socialists that reject liberalism. I'm quite a fan of Tupac, so to see some of these Candace Owens type try to spin this literal communist figure in music as some kind of nationalistic conservative dickhead is especially infuriating. To me, it's the most horrid and uncomfortable bastardization of a very astute and aware figure in black American history.

Tbh, in the Latino/a community, we get a lot of people that are reactionary or conservative ourselves, though of course, that's not to excuse the white supremacist power structure, which arguably supports the conservative elements.

I've had a lot of bigots and chuds with Spanish names harass me for being trans on Instagram. I can take your word for it, but I know a good deal of Latino people are not enabling of such horrendous behavior.

[–] Pluto@hexbear.net 3 points 1 year ago

Oh, absolutely, and we have a radical side to us; many immigrants from Latin America have lead radical movements as well as union movements.

Sweetie, communists support Trump

But seriously that's why the right uses dead people to say they support Trump, they can't say no because they're fucking dead. We saw this shit with MLK Jr. being coopted into supporting MAGA, it's just that added to Tupac instead.

Same reason they like to fawn over the unborn and babies: It's easy to put words in the mouth of those who can't argue back.

[–] Pluto@hexbear.net 10 points 1 year ago

I was just about to bring up MLK, Jr.

Great example of this.

And even as journalists say that he was a philander, an abuser, and a pedophile or something (just like they do with Mao Zedong, though they certainly don't rehabilitate Mao in their image).

Hell, this somewhat happens to the Black Panthers from time to time, but by liberals.

And here I am trying to go to sleep early and then Twitter enrages me again.

ooooooooooooooh

[–] JohnBrownNote@hexbear.net 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

deleting twitter sounds cool

[–] Pluto@hexbear.net 1 points 1 year ago

I have Twitter but I would give up my account if the rest of Twitter went down with it.

I'm only there 'cause everyone else is.

[–] RedWizard@hexbear.net 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

On second thought, let's not go to Twitter... Tis a silly place.

[–] Pluto@hexbear.net 1 points 1 year ago

It's fun... if you know who to follow.

People's politics do tend to age badly, but this is a Kanye level face turn

Yeah. Son of a Black Panther, wanted to join but couldn't at the time, and was in the Communist Party for a while before he died, and, in my opinion, he got got by the FBI, tbh.

in my opinion, he got got by the FBI, tbh.

Before October 7, I was just starting to read a book where the author made this argument. Tupac was assassinated because he had cross demographic appeal on top of being a radical. He was someone white people were cool with while at the same time had enough street cred to broker a ceasefire between rival LA gangs. He was a communist and pan-Africanist. His generation was supposed to be the one to pick up the torch after the BPP, and his assassination was a dramatic means of severing the connection between the radicalism of the 60s and the present.

The FBI War on Tupac Shakur

Oh, I think I've seen this book or something similar. Thanks!

That whole situation was fucking messy, on record he got into a fight with a Crip somewhere and eventually that same Crip ended his life. Vegas is not that far from LA and a lot of folk go there for reasons, often to start shit with other folk wearing different colors.

I'm not against the theory an alphabet agency had a hand in it given his family history, but the simplest explanation is he got into a fight with a guy who had no problem taking it to a bad place after the fact. Pac was spiraling at this point in his life. Maybe people were out to get him, or maybe his familial paranoia caught up to him. Really, California is a fucking black hole, and Los Angeles is the area with the greatest gravitational pull (yay area being #2 and the IE a close 3rd). A lot of rappers have died there, and Pac was really playing up that gangster role at this time. Pac didn't die in LA, but he was def crashing out in a typical Los Angeles fashion.

Whatever. Gangbanging is fucking stupid. Too many people lost over this shit.

[–] Pluto@hexbear.net 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah, agreed with the last part.

In regard to what you said at first, frankly, as you say, it could be both.

[–] take_five_seconds@hexbear.net 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

man i got a looooot of feelings about pac but it's important to note pac was beefing with fucking everybody at this point in his career, so it'll always be a wonder who really had a hand in it. maybe suge was involved? who knows.
