I get why folks say "the left needs to open their arms to converts," but kind of unmoored behavior is why people need to be cautious.
People can have unexamined views and maybe have a big shift once in their life. But once you have a foundation, and have learned some empathy, you shouldn't find yourself swinging wildly in your beliefs... maybe just in your approach. But there's people out there treating life and other people's material condition like a boardgame on a made up board and picking up movements because they like the aesthetics. And I'm so annoyed when people suggest I always have to take it seriously.
I'm probably preaching to the choir here. But I find this kind of flippant behavior towards real struggle to be the absolute worst. You're not picking microgenres off of spotify, this shit affects people.
